Welshman here. As explained to me by great Grandfather -- who would only speak Welsh in his house, so I didn't always fully understand him, admittedly -- a lot of the leftover, contemporary 'hate' (when it isn't just banter) for the 'English' in the South of Wales is actually just a deep-seated hatred of the middle and upper-class that re-ignited national divides following the Reform Act 1832. A lot of Welsh miners, farmers, workers in general would only meet Englishmen when they were mine-owners or landlords. Then said mine-owners started paying miners in 'truck money' -- a currency that could only be spent in shops owned by other upper-class English businessmen -- and obviously, it didn't go as far as pounds and pence would have, as the businessmen were just that, and looking for maximum profit at every point in the chain. When the Welsh tried to protest, under the behest of the Government, the British Army would send English regiments with English regimental names (Royal Anglians etc.) in to quash them, and it was basically what our Govt. are doing to us plebs now. Working Welsh people couldn't afford to travel or not be working, so they never got to meet the Northern and Northeastern English folks that basically experienced the same exact conditions doing the same exact jobs, and 'The English' became a synonym for 'the rich tyrannical establishment'. Wrongly. Just worth having that perspective in mind. It's how my 'English-hating generation' great Grandad viewed the situation. Yes, and the only thing that separated the French and the English was culture (ethnicity) because genetically they’re identical. The same people genetically with separate and distinct enough cultures that they felt they could go to war. What’s the modern culture of the Englishman though? As a result cultures world wide are being lost in favour of rampant consumers that care about nothing but celebrity gossip and trying to be celebrities themselves by working 24/7 to create content for Zuckerberg and Musk. We have no community, barely have any family units so how are we supposed to have a unique and distinct culture. The UK was the birthplace of many distinct and unique genres in the last century but now everyone is connected online no genres have time to develop. They just become fast trends. If someone makes some music with a catchy sound, instantly people on the other side of the planet are making music with the same sound. There’s no unique culture any more because of the systems we have in place. No new genres are emerging from the UK, there’s no community around a genre etc.

Typical that it was a Welshman asking the question, however they know who the English are when they are STILL hating them.
My generation don't have the same enmity... unless it's around a rugby match...

When we fought the French for 100 years, it was Englishmen vs Frenchmen. If you found a camp of 10 men speaking French in Essex, it was open season. They were not fighting an abstract concept or the Kingdom of France, they were fighting the French.
Now it's the camp of saints.
You didn't fight the French though did you. You just ate kebab and drank beer.
Yes, and the only thing that separated the French and the English was culture (ethnicity) because genetically they’re identical. The same people genetically with separate and distinct enough cultures that they felt they could go to war. What’s the modern culture of the Englishman though? It’s disappearing and I don’t believe that’s due to immigration. It’s disappearing from all nations as globilisation takes it grip and everyone is connected online. Capitalism has created a system that encourages individualism in order to fuel consumerism. I’m interested in ethnomusicology, the study of how culture presents itself in music, music influences more culture and culture influences more music. Music is an echo of culture.
@@Jimbo818 If people blame English people for things that happened 100's of years ago why can't they be at Agincourt or Crecy? At least those events are interesting.
@JstBrahd I'm not sure I understand the question
For some reason that angers me, the liberals in England say YOU CANNOT be Ethnically English and live in America and Australia or New Zealand or Canada.
Despite having English culture and ancestry. Even if it's just a influence.
They think of English as a nationality. We think of it as genetic lineage.
Liberals are, by default, Civic Nationalists - not Ethno-Nationalists.
It's just a nationality and not a particularly good one.

Cromwell letting "them" back into England was one of the greatest misfortunes of English History.
Absolutely, but even Cromwell wasn't greedy nor dense enough to do away with the Edict of Expulsion, which is still active and enforceable... ...... All it takes is the English to get p1ssed off with the "Nose" as well as its ally, ☪️.
It’s precisely people like you who justify the “leftist” view on English identity. You should be ashamed of yourself.

These were powerful words! I wish all English and American citizens could watch this. I say that because as an American of English ancestry I know that America is part of the legacy of England. This video made me tear up a little. I get caught up in anger watching all the shit that is happening in Britain and America, but sometimes I set that aside and feel such a sense of pride in my ancestors and my Gods. In response to the Jenrick speech, the next day, The Jeremy Vine show on Ch5 featured Vanessa Feltz (the grand daughter of German Jewish refugees) Nina Myskow (half Scottish, half Polish, brought up in S.Africa) and Wilfred Emmanuel Jones (Jamaican born entrepreneur) discussing how being English was nothing but a 'flexible identity' and had no basis in 'ethnicity', no more than a name. They also all agreed that there wasn't reallu any such thing as a destinct English culture, apart from perhaps our tendency towards diversity and tolerance towards other cultures and ethnicities.
Not a single person on the panel prepared to put a different view point, and those who phoned in to do so were cut off as they were dismissed and belittled. They might as well have been attempting to 'de-colonise' that part of the tv schedule. Imagine them saying the same of any other nationality?
Well done STJ! Couldn't agree more. I've been thinking this for a while, that 'decolonisation' is colonisation. If you go somewhere and tell the natives to change in order to suit you, you are a coloniser!
Thank you Mr black jew for telling what is and what is not English - my own ethnicity and identity.

Thank you for what you do. I began really critically analysing our history a few years ago, and since never felt more close to my ancestors or even my long lost bros over on mainland Europe.. Your vids bring up some unique points I never would have considered which helps bring so much context to past interactions that often get manipulated to prove someone's point, so it's nice having a complete narrative
"The English people are an ethnic group and nation native to England, who speak the English language, a West Germanic language, and share a common ancestry, history, and culture.[7] The English identity began with the Anglo-Saxons" This is from Wikipedia. I just watched a video on a quote by George santayana on the English.
One part made me interested was him saying " an englishman is his inner atmosphere, the weather in his soul"
An englishman needs to keep his spirits up otherwise he will be drowned in sogginess.
And when an englishman loses his temper its like a thunderstorm .
He also needs to manage his calm summer showers and his blustering winter gails .
It interests me that the weather could effect our culture.
Someone from a cold northern land where it snows a lot would need to be a hard man
And someone from a sunny hot climate where food is plentiful would have a more relaxed atmosphere
Not really related to the video but i thought it was interesting
The answer to certain types of people should be a laconic one: "England lives and marches on!"
Another fantastic video! Thank you for being a voice for both modern and ancestral English.
Can't define English? Ask our enemies.
If the English don't exist, neither does the sun or moon.

@@Jimbo818 It's just a gas cloud. Doesn't make it "the sun". And "the moon" is just a rock. There are all kinds of rock masses in the universe, are all those "the moon" too? Is Pluto a planet? There has been lots of discussions and back and forth about that. Must mean that planets don't exist.
@@-RXB- sounds like you are on your way to understanding preferred pronouns - good on you!
@@Jimbo818 This is how these kinds of people reason at least, yes. In reality, things exist and are different no matter what we call them. Not agreeing on whether Pluto is a planet or not, doesn't mean that planets don't exist. Not agreeing on whether the English exist or not, or who is English and who isn't, doesn't affect the actual existence of English people at all. The terms and categories we humans have invented to describe these distinctions come secondary. But that doesn't make them arbitrary.
@-RXB- 'these kinds of people' meaning decent people. Did you know it's actually a far right ploy to have you think there's a left denying English identity? Also that it's far right groups that are stealing that identity and twisting it for nefarious purposes.
