spot on with my thoughts exactly, after 98, 99 just felt so wrong, tough to follow up your best game so far I guess, 2002 was only half the game it should have been proven years later with 2k2um. Without a doubt 2001 is the worst KOF game ever made, from top to bottom, awful response on controls, stiff gameplay ugh its just one nasty game, lol at the mugen comment, you're right on that.
I disagree with what everyone is saying was about 99. 99 was good in it's own right but it was following what was consider the best kof, which was 98. 99 introduced K' and white jacket Kyo. Both became classic characters over time. Striker system did work, in the arcade version at least. King was a great antiair assist, Xiangfei was good at reducing meter, Kasumi for corner combos, and Ryo for OTGs. The only thing special that 2000 did was introduce Another Iori and Seth as broken strikers.
@sevenforcex : me too. It's the only NESTS game that i like. 99 was not so great (the striker system doesnt work really well), 2001 was..too mugen style. 2000 was perfect, great striker system!
@sevenforcex: yes they fucked up 99 because the strikers doesnt properly work. I didnt like how they changed some chars in 2001 (for ex. Ralf and Heidern, especially the latter). Also the striker system is broke as hell, just look at some high level matches on youtube... 2000 was so and so balanced (except some strikers like joe or seth or another iori) but it has its flaws too. Overall, i love 2000 and dislike the other two ahah (even thought Krizalid is fuckin awesome as boos eheh)
wow this takes me back, hard to believe this game is ten years old, plus its the only NESTS game I like.
cheers for the up.
