I am engaged to someone who is incarcerated. I've had successful relationship with men in the "free world" but I've never felt any convictions to marry any of them. I love my fiance. As far as the psychology of women who marry men in prison.....ummmm, I've never been victimized. I prefer for him to take control of the relationship, but honestly we both set the standard and foundation of our beliefs as a couple, so no I do not crave control. If he was a "bad boy" I wouldn't be marrying him. He is a man who has done time for his mistakes. Why does love have to be a science project or a case study? Love is love.

Yes, you are correct. The results of the study only focus on a small group of women and there are many different situations that are very different from the ones in the study. I should have spent more time pointing that out in the video. Thank you for your comment.

@Kaitlyn Brown - Uhh, newsflash honey. Men in prison have nothing to do all day but think about how to use others. Once he clears parole and doesn’t need a place to shack up, you will suddenly become uninteresting to him. Its a shame that you are selling yourself short. While he’s in prison, he essentially has no opportunity to cheat on you with other women. You are also his lifeline to the free world, so of course, he’s going to tell you what you want to hear. You need to wake up and pick from a better pool of men. They are out there and don’t have prison records.

aeromedical67 that’s not true everyone isn’t a user and some people deserve second chances. But the more important note to leave is have a level of self confidence that would make u constantly want to try to be with someone In the free world who can love and grow with you equally, it’s not fair to yourself to dedicate your time and love to someone who physically cannot treat you in the same way because of restrictions . No one can tell you who to love but you should love your self enough to not settle or put yourself through a huge obstacle. Love is about patience but other than that it shouldn’t be a one sided thing and loving someone In prison is definitely one sided. I’m sure u can find a man who want to call you all day just to hear your voice and not because your the only person he can talk to in the moment. @kaitlyn Brown.

@@aeromedical6750 I can say the same of your man/woman, because he/she is (fill in the blank). Maybe because he/she is black? .....ohh ...that rasicm? Yes, it is. Saying "this group of people, who share this or that is so and so" is always discrimination based on prejudgements. You are not racist, but you follow this path of thinking.

People (women mostly) who seek out have different reasons and different needs. I say, either if some or many of the relationships are based on a fantasy and hope, if that's what best for the people involved then so be it. Some people like to feel needed and certainly an inmate needs your time, letters, kind words, and money to survive and distract him from his violent surroundings. Some women like danger. Some women want to be in a relationship that is mentally fulfilling but without all the physical aspects, so prison dating works for her. Other women feel they are doing a good deed and fall in love by accident. Some prisoners are sincere, but many aren't.

A friends roomate has hooked up with some loser in jail (life) and i found the subject interesting, with no no info on the subject; How about, my 3 units of college psy. and life experiences (never been to jail / prison) Common sense tells me 'fear of abandonedment' and girl knows where her man is at all times. If he does get out of the clink she can be in control and threaten to call his P.O. giving her leverage over him. Very few men chase women in prison, because we know better.

+Satisfied Customer That is an interesting point-the controlled environment influence on relationships.
