    Thank you for revealing the truth. It is kinda funny that so many people believe a company like Nike will so "kindly" offer a product as good as their $100+ more expensive model.

    • @BootWizard
      @BootWizard  2 місяці тому +6

      In some cases they either get close or make something that's quite different but offers really good value for money.
      In this case, not close, or good enough to be considered great value for money.
      Shame really, the pro Tiempo has historically been really excellent.
      This still has redeeming features, but some big issues too.

    Great video mate. Excellent breakdown. I'd also add that it's not like these boots are cheap either! There are so many options at that price point, especially last season's elite models. Top notch editing!

    • @BootWizard
      @BootWizard  2 місяці тому +1

      For sure, $150 is absolutely not a cheap boot, it's not like it's an academy tier boot under $100 where you can forgive a little bit more. Also agree, that previous generation of colourway elite models are reasonably easy to pick up around this price point and offer much more than these do.
      Also thanks for the editing love! More balance this time 😂

    I also own both:
    1. Shame about the super bendy outsoles. But the elite soles get also very soft after some usage so at the end they are not very far apart. Both feel somewhat comfortable to run though, more so than the very rigid Alpha MIJ soles to me (FG).
    2. Just like the outsoles, the provided insoles of the pros are also softer. But i switched the elite's insoles with the grippy Alpha insoles which has been a solid improvement. Don't even need grip socks anymore.
    3. The upper knit-tongue thing of the pros do definitely feel more comfortable.. and stretchy out of the box. The elites were painful at the beginning.
    4. I like that the pros are somewhat more padded, especially on the sides.
    5. Had rapid sole seperation on some pairs.
    (6.) Wish the Tiempo 9 Italy was still available with its more aggressive traction and leather. Would've been perfect but i missed them..

    • @BootWizard
      @BootWizard  2 місяці тому +1

      I'd say I disagree with your first point, while I agree that the elite softens up I don't think it gets anywhere near as bad as the pro and the lack of responsiveness from the upper just exacerbates the situation. But, I also much prefer the Alpha outsole to both of them, so possibly preference.
      No doubt on the Alpha insoles, much better than almost anything and well worth using.
      Didn't really have a problem with the knit on the pro in comfort terms, it's more quality, the quality of the build and materials is much worse than the elite. But again, sounds like it suits you better which is great for you.
      I do not like the construction of the medial and lateral areas of the boot, but, that's not really anything related to padding, I don't mind a bit of extra padding, it's just back to that lack of structure and responsiveness issue.
      Not had much in the way of sole separation on any, but I wear so many boots that boots tend to only get to maybe 15-20 hours wear time absolutely max, so I don't get a huge amount of separation generally.
      Sounds like you're a fan of the pro, which is great, always good to find things that work for you. I just didn't find performance wise it's something I can recommend in a few areas, but it does have some redeeming features like the upper softness and the touch for sure.

      @@BootWizard i've heard the academies are even more padded, and have a tongue? Can you compare the pro and academy?

      @BootWizard  2 місяці тому

      @@khelgarironfist3301 I've had the academy on feet but not played in them and from what I remember they are indeed more padded and also a bit wider partly due to the tongue. I will probably review them as well.

    I have experimented with a lot of pro-level boots and I have found the Tiempo Legend 10 Pro to be the best for me in terms of comfort and lockdown. I have "slightly wide" feet and every other boot I tried gave me issues either with blisters, lockdown or too narrow toebox. Having a slightly flexible soleplate is not necessarily a bad thing. Maybe the tongue material is slightly lower quality, but that's such a minor issue. At the end of the day, I think comfort and lockdown are the most important factors affecting performance and the Tiempo 10 pro excels at it. I love my Tiempo pros. 🥰

    • @BootWizard
      @BootWizard  2 місяці тому +1

      As long as you like them that's all that matters.
      I did say in the review that the comfort is excellent, so I agree with you there. I don't think that it's worth the trade off to get the comfort though, the responsiveness is terrible and it's not a slightly flexible soleplate, the whole thing bends in two which is crazy for a $150 boot.
      Lockdown I also disagree, the way the boot is structured means you can't get lockdown that's nearly as good as a lot of other boots on the market at similar or lower prices.
      But, as I say, if you're happy with them that's all that matters. 👍. Wear whatever suits you.

    • @BootWizard
      @BootWizard  2 місяці тому

      Hey, thanks for the kind words and for subscribing.
      As for a boot recommendation, I 100% don't think it matters at all what position you play.
      What matters is that you find a boot that fits you well, that you're comfortable wearing and then maybe has a few characteristics that you like, such as the touch on the ball.

    • @Cr7isgoat4724
      @Cr7isgoat4724 2 місяці тому

      @@BootWizard as far as I have researched, I found that different sole types affect the running, change of direction etc. I am currently using predator accuracy 4 which is my first quality boot. I am curious about the Nike boots so I would like to ask if the tiempo legends may be a good pick or perhaps you have some other suggestions.

    • @BootWizard
      @BootWizard  2 місяці тому

      @@Cr7isgoat4724 you're correct, different soleplates do have an impact on the amount of traction that you get.
      However, how the boot fits your foot and how comfortable you are in it is far more important than any impact the soleplate and stud pattern will have, and the impact that for example the soleplate has is also quite minor, if you were to test how fast you run and change direction while wearing conical studs Vs bladed studs you'd find that there is hardly any difference at all.
      That's why it's much more important to pick what you like and what suits you instead of picking based on your position.
      Boots based on position is just marketing, it's the companies trying to convince you that their boots are best for certain positions.
      Nike would generally say
      Tiempo - defenders
      Mercurial - wingers and fast players
      GX - Strikers
      But, that's essentially nonsense.
      If you want the most aggressive traction from a Nike boot then you want the mercurial. It's the most responsive and most aggressive.
      But, that might not suit your foot type, for example if you have a very wide foot, even if you play on the wing, you're much better off with the Phantom GX.
      The Tiempo elite is a good boot, and if it suits you then go for it. But, they're all good boots in the Nike lineup just in different ways.
      You need to work out what you want in a boot, watch some reviews and find the boot that matches what you want the most. Don't worry about your position.

    • @Cr7isgoat4724
      @Cr7isgoat4724 2 місяці тому

      @@BootWizard my style of play is that I fall from striker to CAM to regain possession and carry the ball. Pressing is crucial so I will take your advice on mercurials. Being aggressive with enough stamina is just joyful. Snatching the ball high up the pitch puts defenders in high stress which can be exploited.

    • @BootWizard
      @BootWizard  2 місяці тому

      @@Cr7isgoat4724 you're right about how to play the game. But, how you're playing the game doesn't matter when it comes to the boots. You will play better if you're comfortable, where you drop to and how you press doesn't matter when it comes to picking your boots. You define what boots you wear not your position.

    • @BootWizard
      @BootWizard  Місяць тому

      Imagine putting a lot of force into something like a big step or a cut and getting nothing back in return. A flexible soleplate won't be stable when you plant and push off it will twist and not give you anything back. Similarly if you don't have that snapback we talk about a lot, you're putting a lot of energy in and not getting anything back due to the outsole being soft.
      Something responsive also usually makes you feel a little bit more in tune with what's going on under your feet I find. Usually makes you feel a more propelled as well.
      I usually describe it when I'm talking about the upper being responsive.

      I got some carbon fibre insoles and inserts I'm just playing around with the best option at the moment, but yes basically it will help

    Weird take on the boot bending. My legend 5s and x speed flows.1 bend the exact same way and are arguably some of the best in my rotation. Saw Noah critique the boot bending as well. Crazy that established “reviewers” would create such a general bias as such.

      You may want to check again where your boots bend. Unless they are VERY well used, they shouldn’t fold in the middle so easily like James showed, especially a boot with a carbon fibre soleplate like the Speedflow. A soleplate with a good level of performance should bend at the forefoot to help with push off and support the biomechanics of the foot while sprinting and provide support to the rest of your foot.

      @@substanceftbl bent down the mid foot as shown here. Just did a test with my legend 6s/Morelia Waves/ vapor 11/ vapor 13/HV2.5/ Tekela V4 and all bent the exact same way down the middle. Now, this can be that all the boots I’ve mentioned are worn, but this idea that bent boots are linked to poor performance or are a sign of a bad boot is absurd. On the contrary, after playing for 25+ years, the more flexible soleplates have been the most comfortable and safest in my experience for myself. I’ve sent a video to boot wizard on IG demonstrating the boot bending on all the boots I’ve mentioned, I can send that to you as well.

      If your Speedflow bend like that then the soleplate is finished and you should get a new pair. Your Legend 5 probably does the same because it's so old. It's not a general bias. Like, if a company does something crappy, we're gonna call it out. Brands aren't your friends, there's no need to stand up for them.

    • @BootWizard

      It's not creating a bias, it's identifying a problem that affects performance. I replied to your Instagram message and I'll just post that reply here as well.
      ...
      Over time boots will start to lose structure through the outsole as the materials soften through wear, hence why you have boots that bend now that absolutely wouldn't have done when they were first purchased, those boots you have will also retain the vast majority of their stability in a rotational sense which is also important. It's also important that boots do not naturally bend and twist through the middle, which again most of those boots you have do not, you can make them do it but their natural bend point due to construction is in the forefoot.
      The reason boot bending is bad is because it affects the stability and responsiveness and therefore performance of the boot. A natural bend point in the forefoot with a stable midfoot and heel simply provides a better performing boot in certain areas.
      Now, people may prefer a very soft outsole, but, if I'm reviewing, I'm looking for performance characteristics including responsiveness and stability in the boot.
      I will also add to that (limited Instagram characters) that having a soleplate as soft as this one also provides your foot with limited support which generally is not positive in a football boot and if your boots degrade to the point where they are significantly softer than when you first got them then you probably need to replace them.

    I just got the pro version from a clearance store and was heartbroken tbh when I saw your video. But when I tried doing your bending thing, I am sorry but it doesnt bend like yours. And also they were surprisingly snappy. Idk why you you labelled these boots as unresponsive. Football boots are meant to be comfortable for the player inorder to play the game with no issues in my opinion.

    • @BootWizard
      @BootWizard  Місяць тому

      So the issue here only applies to the FG boot. If you have the AG or SG there isn't a problem, similarly it isn't an issue with the first colourway it seems, although I have been unable to confirm this myself. If you'd like to see me research this further I made an entire second video on it and I've now tried it with 6 different colourways ua-cam.com/video/GVeTAbRdi_8/v-deo.html
      The reason I have labelled the boots as unresponsive is white simply because they are, from a performance standpoint these are not a responsive football boot, the soleplate being a key component of that. While I agree a football boot needs to be comfortable, there's no reason why a boot can't be comfortable and responsive, many many boots achieve both, this boot does offer comfort, but it does not offer good responsiveness.

    This may be an unpopular opinion, but any review is going to have bias in regards to the reviewers preferences. Basically what I’m trying to say no matter how cool a pair of boots look should probably try them on in a store.

    • @BootWizard
      @BootWizard  Місяць тому

      There's always going to be somewhat of a bias this is true, however, I don't review based on my preferences, I'm not saying that they don't influence my thoughts, but reviews are done with as much objectivity as I can.
      A good example would be the adidas Nemeziz 19.1, I absolutely love that boot, one of my all time favorites to wear, but, I didn't exactly give it a glowing review and I also put it up in vs battles against multiple other boots at the time such as the x19.1 and it lost on all occasions.
      So, while yes, reviewers preferences are a thing, I think there also has to be a level of respect for the amount of time and effort reviewers put into creating reviews and the good ones at least will do so with a level of objectivity.

      Dude I ordered them directly from Nike so they're 100% legit. I've reviewed 100s and 100s of boots, I'd be able to spot a fake! And like I say, direct from Nike.
