And then like, Abby came out on her very next video. You were obviously more like yourself than you’d ever been, and it made me take those feelings I’d been ignoring for so long more seriously. Transitioning was still my own will in the end, but you still were/are so inspiring. Same but in the other direction. I’d been teetering on the edge of telling people I was a trans man and socially and maybe medically transitioning for almost 3 years, and I’d been questioning my gender identity since i was 16, so I’d known I wasn’t a cis woman for over a decade at that point. About 6 months after Abigail’s coming out video I took the leap and started telling my non trans friends and eventually my family.
For me it was the NHS video and for some reason a comment that said they'd just bought some hormones to try and turned out it felt right 😄 I guess that gave me the courage to kind of "what the hell it" and start the process that would lead to my transition. In the end I kind of left the whole gender thing behind, very much recommend it's quite liberating 😜 Do still identify more with femme people though, just more fun in my view 😸
You nailed it when saying that the biggest things are Connections, Experience, and Prestige. Literally does not matter how talented you are - you have to be able to get your stuff in front of the right people and in the right circles. Creators coming together in a co-operative model like this is literally a leftist artist’s dream. Would be incredible to see something similar for musicians, since Spotify is leaving us all high and dry.
Actually untrue from my experience. Just seek out movie castings that befit you, pit your heart into a role *you* *like*, and soon one or the other director will be leaving exclamation marks by your name. Acting is a shitshow though, I would not recommend it to people that have priorities that could suddenly alter their plans (if someone gets sick and you have an emergency at home when you are supposed to be shooting, there would be a lot of bitching - if you have principles then this industry could really piss you off). Otherwise it is a really fun thing to do.

Seems like a golden age, but will likely take less than 6-8 quarters for the capitalist machine to adjust via hardware costs or some other service dependent extortion that will make subs on nebula go up. Probably best to buy a lifetime membership then sue the company that buys nebula in a year or so
The Prince is literally why I got Nebula. Got that lifetime subscription. I've watched it twice now, and cried both times! I tell all my friends about Nebula and i do it as "It's if Netflix was a co-op of UA-camrs." Excited for your movie as the premise is so for me and your appearance with Again Again! Oh and I think I paid 350 for my lifetime membership, so get it as i don't think I've seen it this cheap before!

there's a reason why the only streaming services i pay for are nebula and dropout, and it's not just because they're both creator-owned. the art i can watch through both of those platforms is some of the most interesting, innovative, entertaining stuff i've seen... BECAUSE they're owned by the same people making the art. i love being able to more directly support the creators, just as a matter of principle, but this kind of setup also means the stuff they're creating is just BETTER.

there's a reason why the only streaming services i pay for are nebula and dropout, and it's not just because they're both creator-owned. the art i can watch through both of those platforms is some of the most interesting, innovative, entertaining stuff i've seen... BECAUSE they're owned by the same people making the art. i love being able to more directly support the creators, just as a matter of principle, but this kind of setup also means the stuff they're creating is just BETTER.
I'm so happy for you. This is one of those rare fantastic success stories that is both heartwarming and also gives hope to other aspiring creators to keep on keeping on, because just maybe, one day it could actually happen for us, too. I was devouring those early bedroom videos with just you, the camera, and philosophy chit-chat:) The whole journey you’ve made since before I knew about the channel and up to today is beyond amazing. If I may add, however much you change the format and content you make and however much you grow and change as a person, there is always something very characteristically ”you” in it - informative, clever, well-researched, fun, and simply imbued with humanity. Makes me smile every time.

I got the lifetime subscription about a week ago due to sitting on the fence for ages and seeing a post by Jessie Gender and how LG were up to corporate scumbaggery against Nebula. I have not regretted it, anyone sitting on the fence for any level give it a go. Bonus you get reminded by your favourite creators of the stuff they have up there like the Prince... which is a very nice surprise that I definitely should have remembered because I am very curious about how the concept plays out.
