Thanks for the guide! Being a returning player, all of the new gearing systems seem confusing at start and I went and did a wrong move by buying the PvP Conq chest instead of crafting it, oh well. At least I know how to move forward now thanks to your guide.
The embelishment can be put on other pieces, not that big of a deal.

This was a great guide, do you think you can share how you survive and use defensives against certain classes? The defensive part seems to be the most challenging part of DK for me.
Yeah It basically comes down to cool down trading and kiting/lining with chains of ice. It’s def the harder part of dk for sure. Maybe I can make a whole vid on defensive

iMMA BE REAL, and probably you have heard this before, but I am now VERY conflicted on who my main will be because of you! I LOVE the way you have structured your video. I kinda gave up on DK for pvp since I mostly do not survive for so long (Iknow, I am BAD). With this guide, I am going to retake UDK and give it another go.
I wanted to see if you can share the following:
1. Tips/macros for surviving in different scenarios. For example, when do I use my defensive cooldown, how would I know which ones to use, etc.
2. Macros that you deem SUPER necessary as well as macros for the pet.
3. Addons that you might recommend and their configuration, if possible.

For macros and addons check my most recent videos of both that will sort that out. For tips for surviving you just need game knowledge to know when to trade your defensive cds for their offensive cds. To help with this I would get weak auras and also watch my stream to see when I use cds. A lot of dk defensive is just kiting at the right time

I have a macros video and I just chains of ice and kite when needed. Other than that just cooldown trading defensives or offensives generally.

i have a question to the tier set! do you have to raid or is it possible to avoid pve because that is my plan only to play pvp this season^^
u dont need to pve at all in order to pvp. u only get ur tier set from the vault after doing pvp and by converting the conquest gear u get into tier set pieces with the catalyst.

u may even have different tier pieces for PVP, depending on the stats, cause u rather prioritize versa > mast > haste, since crit is not good at all on PVP, as it is on PVE. Said so, i guess the worst tier piece for PVP is the chest, as it gives u a lot of crit and low mast, so u may want to acquire the other pieces only, while for PVE all pieces are good.

Only to stop drinks or get people out of stealth not for damage in arena, in bgs if your dots on like 5 or more people I’d oress it

good guide thank you for the details - been a unholy dk main since BFA from retiring my Sub rogue - typically i follow flarkness but, enjoyed your video - appreciate the knowledge depth you share and liked the DoT build. my own spin off of your build i would change the death strike to wrath (i find that has been better to slip away) and uses clawing shadows to give that big more range so i can still poke without getting blown up if i extend or push. what are your thoughts of this? is it punishing to overall performance? or is this also effective? i havent played much since S1 shadowlands. And did they remove Abom??? what the heck
You can’t play the dot build with clawing shadows or it’s not the dot build anymore, plaguebringer is what makes it. But yeah you can def go wraith instead of deathstrike all personal preference there. I posted 2 builds one of them is clawing if you prefer that play-style!
They did remove abom last season unfortunately haha

I pvp on other mmo's, but I'm new to wow PvP, this helped a lot- should I be putting the enchants on the honor gear or waiting till I get conquest gear? Also plan to use the DoT build, where exactyl does scourge strike come into play? Am I supposed to just leave the dots up in the burst and use deathcoil/doom burst instead of popping with scourge strike?
Use scourge for plaguebringer up time and popping wounds outside of coil procs. As far as enchanting honor gear I would since you’ll use it for weeks
I'm playing unholy and I've never played a dk before. There sure is A LOT of buttons in terms of bursting. I don't feel too afraid in groups lol
Haven't tried arena or solo shuffle yet. Just bgs and blitzes
What PvP talents for bgs do you use if any difference
The primal molted chestplate you crafted. How u got the aspect dream crest to craft it? Need aspect crest to craft nascent aspect crest. Is there only one way through mythic dungeons? I suck at that and Will take months, i Cant eaven join a group 😅
hi pwaff. in the video you run the full coil talents but the updated import in the descrip has you going unholy blight. any reason why so I just know for gameplay purposes?
I run blight with the dot build now if I’m not playing blight I’m playing clawing shadows most likely. Since the blight synegizes well with dot and rotten touch was nerfed

I got rid of rotten touch/reaping since rotten touch is getting nerfed. I just liked the 2 together since they synergized but since they don’t I’m going blight/defile/pact

Doesn't haste make your dots tick faster? Mastery wont' buff your frost fever right? (of course frost fever probably isn't doing much of your damage as UH anyway)

Vers already was getting high by the end of s2 and most people started crafting pieces with haste/mastery. With s3 gear going up 40 ilvls, won't versa greatly diminish? How valuable is versa after 30% for example?

No it’s just a good build which is why I made the guide about it. It’s the best single target damage and the games end quick so single target damage is really strong.
They really need to swap Unholy Blight and Epidemic, it's so damn frustrating being forced to pick that aoe talent before you can pick single target spells in the disease row.
Epidemic is actually useful to prevent dotted healer from dropping combat and being allowed to drink
Personally epidemic should be baseline and then they can create something more appealing for that talent slot

Your scourge striking to burst wounds or get plaguebringer. Prio using doomburst procs to burst wounds over scourge since the proc will go away and it does more damage.

Have you considered choosing vile contagion instead of pestilence? I haven't tested it yet, but copy-paste 6 wounds to 7 pets when you have bursting sores looks really good on paper against demon lock and unholy, pestilence is useless anyway.
You could do that if you wanted but no I like pestilence. It applies wounds for you to targets when your cleaving or you can use it from range to apply wounds
@@Partywaffles Just watched your latest video, in all 6 rounds you cast death and decay once, and it did like 4 ticks of damage in total, that means the value of pestilence in the whole video is 0.4 wound, I don't think that would justify a talent point spent on it. Think about how many wounds a single vile contagion cast can generate, and how many extra damage/festermight stacks you can get by cleaving after vile contagion, isn't the choice very obvious now?
@@Partywaffles Imo pestilence is only good in pve, especially mythic+, where you constantly have opportunities to cleave, and all your targets stay in the d&d area for very long time for it to work. In pvp everyone moves around, they never stay in the d&d area for long, so the value of 10% pestilence proc per tick is really bad. Vile contagion on the other hand, generate wounds instantly, and you can cleave even if the targets moved away when you have clawing shadows, that works much better in a pvp situation.

Obviously the clawing build hits harder, but I enjoy playing the dot build in solo shuffle. I also use unholy blight with it and the dots just eats people
Yeah the damage from it is insane I love rotting people down.
The Rot build is appealing to me because of all the CC. If I'm going to lose control of my character constantly, at least I can dot them up inbetween.
I have a buddy who plays unh dk and he flat out refuses to hit death strike because he wants to go full send on damage 100% of the time and says it’s a waste of runic power. Is he right to prioritize damage? Is death strike really not that good? Does improved death strike talent make a huge difference if we're losing to melee cleaves? Am I going crazy and/or how can I convince him to use it more often especially if I’m in cc?
You need to deathstrike sometimes yes but a lot of the time it’s better just to kite melee. I deathstrike after big hits usually
So it heals more, such as chaos boltS.

How come on leaderboard @partywaffles your shoulders are 447 and ur legs are 463? Why not upgrade the shoulders to 463 before catalyst?
Because they scale up so it doesnt make a difference in pvp
One thing im confused about unholy is when to use epidemic vs death coil?
You spam deathcoil, rarely do you use epidemic. Maybe to keep healer in combat it's just so you can get further down the talent tree
