I understand Rolly's explanation but Rolex was making stainless steel watches marketed as tools for outdoorsmen way before AP came out with the Royal Oak. Why was it such a bigger deal when AP did it?
This is my favorite watch (Overseas) of the Holy Trinity Watch Brands...It seems that I will never own one...my next purchase will be the Hulk as my AD has promised the next one that comes in will be mine...but after that I will be calling you Christian and asking you to help get an Overseas....by the way this was a great Vid...the chemistry you have with your father is great...Rollie has lost some weight looking good man!!!!
I think the 222 is extremely beautiful for its time and even in today's time! I think the reason why it is not treated like the RO or Nautilus is purely because it is not a Gerald Genta design. Most likely, people look at it as a copy of the successful RO and Nautilus, which is a shame. Any sports high end luxury watch with integrated bracelet should not be treated as a copy of GG design. Another good example is the Girard Perregaux Laureato. It is beautiful on its own! Gerald Genta doesn't give a shit, and people are sucking his d**k way too much .
Looking at this watch and thinking to my self how the heck can you mention this watch and the Nautilus or Royal Oak at the same breath, this 222 looks like a dinky, pale, meh of a watch with little personality, I rather own a DateJust over it. Sorry but I think you missed the train on this one, this is not a very interesting looking watch.
Contemporary POP culture hasn't hyped VC in social media - that's the main reason for it not being as desirable as Patek and Audemar where the situation is the opposite. No one has a stronger heritage, where the horology, design and finishing is just as good or better.
I’ve always preferred the designs of these pieces compared to their PP and AP cousins. Love the classic 222 bracelet, and prefer a round dial over the quirkier RO and Nautilus dials. I also honestly think the new Overseas v.3 is the best 3 hand luxury sports on the market, even over the benchmark 5711. The fact it’s cheaper than a PP new, cheaper than the RO used, and doesn’t have any wait times to speak of is just a bonus.
I love the Liquor Run episodes but this came in on the wrong say. Dont like the watches you talk about though. I dont like sports watches though. I just think they are too flashy and vulgar for me. And i love Vacheron, they make some of my favourite watches, but i don't like the sports watches. I think the only sports watch i would consider is the new Urban Jurgensen The One. That looks pretty good.

Plus I'm not aware of the different case sizes so you should have given a few dimensions. Also do you have spare links? Because if it fits you it will be too small for me and I doubt I will be able to find links separately. However any true watch lover should buy this in confidence, knowing you will get a "tip of the hat" from people in the know.

And then when they made the first gen overseas, they made twice as many models - one matte and one patterned for each colour, so it's distracting and splits the demand into smaller chunks than necessary.
I'm just relieved to see Rolly, Friday or not. I was contemplating organizing a boycott of the channel until Rolly returned! Great episode. Sigh of relief -- all's well.
