- We bring you the first look at Trophyline's new EDP saddle platform on a tree, and compare it to their breakout hit of 2020, the Mission. #saddlehunter #saddlehunting #trophyline
What a great overview of a sweet looking platform! Thanks!
Very much enjoy your very informative equipment reviews for saddle hunting gear!!!
Really like the Mission. Would love to see your review of the new Cruzr SEEKER!!
Can’t wait to get my EDP in April! Looks like an awesome platform, with lots of great features
Another fantastic video Greg!
It's going to be a tough decision between this and the Seeker from Chad.
Another great review bud. Really appreciate the reviews you do.
Thank you so much!
Great review as always!!
Great work as always. You should try a video on the Battlement from Wild Edge and OOAL
Having logged many hours using the Mission last year I was excited to see the lil bro in the EDP being offered. I have only recently "hung" it (few feet up)in various trees and practiced my size 12 boot footwork. As rock solid as the Mission. Should be easier to pack. Would get an extra 1/2 star had the "handle" been cast another 1/2 inch longer. (look at pic 2 in the description). I will mod it to get my fingers through the space for a hand carry option. Kudos again TL (paying customer sends)
A piece of high density foam the same thickness as the “hump” attached to the bottom of the platform will make the “hump” effectively disappear and allow you to use it as a backpack for only a few ounces penalty. Ok, just saw your magnificent video. Great minds think alike😉
Thanks for another great review. My only concern about this platform was being able to turn around for a weak side shot and you proved you still can. I think I’m going to get it and pair it with my Mission. I was going to buy a 2nd Mission for my backup but I think it makes more sense to get the EDP.
Yep, I think that’s the right call. I’d do the same.
Heck yes I can’t wait for mine
I have a cutdown Mission and love it! Fits the pack better, saves a pound or so and with my size 14 boots I still have room. Great move by Trophyline.
hey Brian, does the cutting down compromise the integrity of the platform? not trying to find fault, just curious
would like to be able to pack my mission, right now I have to carry it separately
I like that loop. Will work good when wanting to hang it from your saddle. That was the only thing I could find I didn’t like about the mission.
Great review
Looks good but I’m sticking with the mission only because of its stick carrying ability. Carried the mission with 4 novix minis last season. Even with the hump it was comfortable and a good system that allowed me to ditch the backpack.
You certainly cannot go wrong with the Mission, that's for sure!
the mission was a bit bulky, but was comfortable and did not hurt my feet like the ring of steps or WE steps. was a pain to put hockey tape or stealth strips to quiet things down, wonder if some sort of coating would be good? would love to see the EDP get pimped out!
The mission is the best plateform on the market...PERIOD...there's no need to cut the mission down...The new PDR plateform reaches back to most others realities to size....again I don't sacrifice daily (all day sits) comfort for a smaller size...
I’m curious if you could do a video on you would pack in the EDP with sticks. I like how the mission has the ability to nest the sticks on it but not sure how that would work with the EDP. I’m torn between waiting for the XOP edge to come out since it has the ability to add a rope on the side of the platform and nest sticks or just buying the EDP now.
Both Gabe and I will be one-sticking again this year, but if I were to take multiple sticks and an EDP in I'd buy a very small backpack to slip the platform in (think $20 or less from places like Academy Sports and the like...) and then strap my sticks to the outside of that. It's just way easier for me to manage multiple sticks by strapping them to a pack. Hope that helps! :)
If you were to buy one platform, which would you choose? Thank you for the video
As they say on saddle hunter nation....... GAME CHANGER 😆
😂
“I’m not a backpack guy” As you have the only backpack I really want to get. 😑 I really hope they get that’s CAYS backpacks back in stock before next season.
LOL! When I DO use one, it’s got some really nice features ... and I can’t get rid of it because sometimes I take camera gear in with me. Especially if I’m trying to film one of the boys. 😊
Is that the new novix mini with double steps on your tree? I am waiting to see the stick platform myself before I make another purchase.
It's the ones I modded in this video... ua-cam.com/video/p_ofPLZqn44/v-deo.html
You need to do a review of the Cruzr so I can decide between the Cruzr or EDP
It's in the works! :)
That’s great
I bet a ring of steps would work well in addition. Looks like you could have them on the same plane as this platform
Yep. That's a GREAT option! :)
The wingman looks even better
I'm as excited as everyone else to get that one in the shop! :)
I wanna see a review on the tethrd predator xl platform
It was part of the "7 saddles reviewed in one video"... Go to the 28:45 mark.

How do they bite on smaller trees I plan on hunting cypress swamps and those trees narrow fast also has anyone ever saddle hunted a cypress tree
I’ve never hunted a cypress tree, as they have a LOT of limbs - at least the ones around here do. As far as the EDP in little trees, that shouldn’t be a problem. I’ve had it in trees that were pretty small. Any smaller and they’d be swaying pretty bad with your movement.
For only one platform which would you pick and y
Right now it would be a tough choice between the Cruzr Seeker and the Trophyline Mission... The Seeker just does EVERYTHING well, but I'd have a REALLY hard time giving up the footroom the Mission affords. It's REALLY nice to be able to just stand and turn around even while saddle hunting, as if you were hunting from a treestand. It provides the best of both worlds.
@@StaggsintheWild thank you man appreciate it all your help and recommendations just ordered the ewo sticks in the most basic form with the 4 stick a 20" 1 stick and I'm trying to cancel my new marlin from aero to pre order the tx5 whole set up if I can I seen the videos u made very well done and like and appreciate your realistic thoughts with out price or fan vase opinion
The post actually looks shorter. Is that the case Greg?
The Mission’s post is 14 3/8” long and the EDP is 12 7/8”
@@StaggsintheWildOk. That's what I had thought. Thanks Greg!
@@jase4364 keep in mind, mine was an early prototype so I could get this video out ahead of the big launch ... let me check with TL’s product manager and see if that’s still the case; I think I remember them talking about using the same-sized post for the production version.
@@jase4364 it is still shorter even in production so that when folded it doesn’t make any metal-on-metal contact. Hope that helps!
@@StaggsintheWild that does help. Appreciate you looking into it!
Its been out of stock for a while as of today
What is up with that design on the front of the platform. As someone who likes to stand on very end of platform that little handle would be a deal breaker for me. The silhouette of the mission is a much better design imo...
Have you watched the video? I show that you can easily straddle it or stand with your feet touching right on top of it if you want.
@@StaggsintheWild Yeah I seen you put your feet together and they were still flat on the platform. I put my feet at a 45 degree angle on face of platform exactly where that handle is. Sure you could straddle it but why is it even there. The post does not need it as an accommodation...
@@usernamehere6061 I also leaned out and angled back standing on the edge of the platform too ... there’s room to do that as well if you want to.
@@StaggsintheWild I don't know. I'm not dogging the product... I think trophyline makes 1 of the top 2 platforms. Just questioning the design is all. Seems weird.
@@usernamehere6061 No worries, man... I know. And like I always say, I don't make a dime more or a dime less if they sell one or if they sell a million, LOL... I'm in no way, shape or fashion affiliated with any of these companies. I just wanted to explain that I did stand on the part that protrudes and it was plenty comfortable. Maybe I didn't do a good-enough job of showing that in the video. :)
