  • In 2031, after over 30 years operating in space, the International Space Station will retire. It will burn up in the atmosphere, and crash back to Earth in the Pacific Ocean at Point Nemo - a place where spacecraft retire.
    But what will happen before the end of the space station’s life and 30 year mission. How many more astronauts will get to live onboard? When will the first Starship dock with the station? Will the first person who steps on Mars, get to train on the ISS. And will the station get to witness the launch of the first crewed mission to Mars.
    A timelapse and timeline of a number of ISS milestones are also included in the video. From when did the first astronauts start living on the station, start eating plants grown on the station, to the first docking for a SpaceX Dragon capsule. And even the beginning of tests on a handheld 3d bio-printer, that can use an astronaut’s own cells to print bandages in space.
    Space quotes from: Stephen Hawking, Astronaut Victor J. Glover, Arthur C. Clarke, and Carl Sagan.
    Footage sourced from: NASA, ESA, and Earth Science and Remote Sensing Unit, NASA Johnson Space Center esrs.jsc.nasa.gov/ESRS/

    This 3 minute video is enough to make you think, even if it's "only" about the ISS. Very well done!

      Don't go to college. Unless you really need to. I learned a million times more at work than in college. And you can literally just say you went and got degrees or certifications and people just believe it.

    If I were a zillionaire, I'd have built the ISS just to record the insane footage of those Arora's from space [from 2:29 to 2:41]. Jeez that was mind blowing, & a billion times better than any footage ever recorded from the surface of the Earth. Thank you ISS.

    Why decommission the ISS, and crash it into the atmosphere to burn up, why not repurpose the station and turn it into a Spacecraft.
    Attach some engine, fuel tanks, bolt on a command module, long rang communication dish and send it out into the solar system with a crew to explore.
    Rename it the Enterprise and bodily go where no one has gone before.
    In all seriousness I believe it would work, retro fitting it for flight over orbit, it wouldn't be that expensive or technically that difficult, why scuttle a tested space frame already in orbit, worth millions of dollars, Elon Musk should buy the station and undertake the work, or a private company should buy it, or salvage it before deorbit under maritimel law and crowd fund a rebuild, what dose everyone think?

      Because the station is already pretty maintenance intensive, constantly has to be fixed and will eventually need to be replaced. Sending people into outer space on it, would just be a suicide mission.

  • @noseandfins1
    @noseandfins1 Рік тому +1

    why get rid of it if they can just replace the old modules with new one?

  • @justsomerandombirdwithinte5896

    NO! Man we need the ISS to be turned into a museum/monument! The starship will easily be able to bring peices back down.

    Gr8 doco .. I wonder what’ll replace it .. will it b more advanced .. will it have artificial gravity @ last .. weightlessness is so last century & unnatural .. can’t c why it’s a tech biggie @ all, in fact the advantage would b variable-G with the idea I have .. just think Donald Fagen’s reference 2 “wheels in space in the album trk “IGY” .. think spinning concentric spoked wagon wheel modules .. Technics Lego in Space .. exploration/reaching out (but under a real life Prime Directive) is “our destiny”.

    Before the space station crashes down to the cold ocean floor they could quickly go out there and Salvage it and recycle them millions millions and millions of dollars of materials and reuse them for future space edit: upper atmosphere, Expeditions rather than wasting it
