Just a quick video on what a 5" straight pipe sounds like on a LML duramax. The truck in the video is a 2013 but any LML (2011-2016) should sound the same. Kit is a Flo-Pro exhaust part number 664NM

That blow off noise from the vgt is such a wonderful sound
From what I understand it's from the sudden drop in pressure in the turbine housing, not any kind of pressure relief

You get a little more drone with the straight pipe but it’s not terrible.
I have a 5 inch MBRP straight pipe with axle dump, I get a good bit of drone with all the windows up

That’s good that’s how it’s supposed to be. Black smoke is improper air to fuel ratios.
Smoke is for retards. It's a good way to cook an engine with high egts. People like you are why we can't tune anymore
The wastegate is the best part
There is no wastegate on lmls they have vgt turbos

Question if I delete straight pipe only and I do not install a tune should be a problem or not I'm concerning if I add a tune later the transmission give any problems I had a ram 2500 with tune on and the gears jumped as hell
You HAVE to tune it or else the truck will be in limp mode

No unfortunately the only way to make it sound like this is by removing your factory exhaust which contains your DPF and DEF system

how much of a difference in sound does a catalytic converter make? like if it were a cat back straight pipe would it sound decent?
I’m not sure, I’ve never heard one before. If you are getting rid of the DPF why wouldn’t you get rid of the cat too? Or did you mean a DPF back exhaust? Because if that’s the case then it won’t sound any different then stock whatsoever.

Sadly sounds exactly like our company truck that’s deleted it’s a 6.7 Cummins it’s almost the same very damn close
The cummins are much louder straight piped especially in person. Also they don’t sound the same at all as the cummins is i6 but lml is v8. What this does sound almost exactly like is a 6.7 powerstroke as they are both v8 configurations.

@@juliorobles5696 ppe makes them 3” no emissions. Just got one for mine online. 15.5 -16 that has the 3 bolt though
