Beautiful rendition here, Woosters! We offer it up ourselves this weekend, Vermont Choral Union. In Burlington, VT. I'd be very pleased if we bring it to the level you've captured here. To sing with others works like this, -in loving excellence- it makes one a better Citizen, and expands one's lifelong consciousness, I am quite sure.
My college choir attempted to get this song together on two separate occasions and on both occasions we had to put it on the back burner because we couldn't quite get it. It's still very very beautiful and I'm disappointed we haven't been able to perform it thus far, but such a gorgeous and tender song deserves perfection like this!
+Talyn McFarlane Thanks, Talyn! This piece is MUCH more difficult than lots of people think! Truth be told - We had to change the key in order to make it work for us ;)
Yes, it's difficult, and this recording is at least a half step higher than I remember. The harmonies do not work as well, nor do the vocal timbres. I am sorry you felt the need to change Barber's master work.
Conductors in education have to make decisions like this all of the time, Catherine. Would I have preferred to keep it in the original key? Of course! This was our stage of development at the time, and what I thought would be best for the ensemble.
It is gorgeous, Lisa. I did this several times as a Denison Singer, both in my years at campus and during our reunion concerts, most recently last June. (A difficult piece for us to pick up and refesh during a weekend reunion when we are almost all now 'old folks'). This recording of your students is close to flawless.
Sang this with my high school choir 9 years ago. Still one of my favorite pieces 😭💗 Well done.
Whoa! Goosebumps! Well done!

Lovely job guys. One of my favorites to sing.
Exquisite.

Superb.
More basses than tenors than altos than sopranos makes for a great balance
