I would experiment with a finer guage yarn and a much smaller hook with the same pattern and make adjustments as necessary. To begin with, I would use DK (3 weight) and a size F or G hook. If those are not small enough go down to a Sport Weight (2) with a C or E hook. If they need to be bigger, try worsted weight (4) with a G or H hook.
