  • In this video I will show you how I photograph ducks, coots and other waterfowl. I will cover my camera settings and equipment but also light and viewing angle.

    Yes, the photographer's eye matters too. But in such a natural landscape, there is no way not to take great photos :)

    Good video. I struggle alot with waterlevel as I have a dslr. I have got a flipoit screen which I try to use but it's so slow to focus compared to the viewfinder. And getting to the viewfinder is difficult and can be abit awkward in public 😅 other than those issues I always find that tracking focus etc loses the birds quickly as they float in all sorts of directions. These are my issues with water level photography. But only time will help me improve

      Thanks! Yes, practice helps a lot. It’s not exactly comfortable, but with my DSLRs I always shot through the viewfinder when photographing swimming birds

    Do you ever use polarization filters when shooting wildlife?

      No, I never tried it. With the 600/4 you would need a drop-in filter anyway. My main concern is light: as you can see I often shoot at ISO 1600-3200 and with a polarizing filter I would lose more than a stop
