So not saying I know how to do this hahaha but those arduino kits come with infrared remotes im sure there is a sensor that can emit a infrared signal and considering thats how your AC receives its signal from its remote all you need to do is record the signal for each button then add that to your function, so you create a simple bit of code and receive IR signals then write it to serial and record it , then modify what you have above to include multiple triggers for each button :P... ps also a noob first timeish arduino'er :D

No you are absolutely right, that's probably the more efficient way. I see that my kit includes an IR blaster but perhaps it can be a reader too. I'll have to look into that. Thanks for watching tho.
