Jackson is such an integral part of the pod, so often he comes in moments that might otherwise end in silence and move to another topic and makes a genuinely funny joke that keeps the flow and keeps the connection to the guest. Not to mention he is the go to talking point to shit on his interests, and he takes it like a champion.

Okay so someone's probably said this already; but about the praying mantises- it's actually a myth that the female always eats the male. It's true that it happens most of the time, but that's just because praying mantises are hunting most of the time, they hunt by standing very still and waving slightly and waiting. People who breed them as pets tend to make sure the females have very large prey items whenever they introduce a male to reduce the risk of them losing what could be a very, very valuable animal.
so, essentially, the females only eat the males sometimes, because sometimes they're hungry.

@@kickja4 you are entitled to your opinion. I appreciated the humor and the fact that they let a guest talk a fair amount here. That is a huge gripe I have had with too many of them. They just talk over guests. It still happened here but not as much. Was also why I liked the Kitboga episode a lot. I don't know that this is my absolute favorite but it is a great one for me

I was at schlitterbahn a few days before the kid got decapitated, I went on that same ride and everything and that shit was not safe, there's a net there to keep you from flying off the ride, the guy running the slide gave us a spiel about how the net I'd there to catch sky fish and not people......
I've almost died there a few times. It's part of the experience.

Wave pools? Oh yeah, you risk drowning from the big waves, crowds of people, and floaties getting tossed around.
I also remember at Summer Waves one year a man became really pale. Next thing you knew the man was blowing chunks all into the water. The waves definitely didn’t help. It made it harder to get out of the water and it dispersed the puke quickly

So some things about the electric ray I thought would be fun to share, they aren't actually stingrays but close relatives of them. They have a flattened ray-like body but instead of a barbed tail they have a more typical looking fish tail. They are capable of producing electricity ranging from 8 to 220 volts depending on the species, of which there are around 69.Also they live worldwide, not just in Australia.
Also for the sex thing, instinct. More animals can enjoy things on a deeper level than you'd think (I'm pretty sure I've seen stuff about fruit flies enjoying sex, dolphins getting high on pufferfish venom and so on) but at the end of the day that's the main driver for most sexually reproducing life on Earth.

After my parents moved to Hawaii a few years ago, I learned that their local term for thongs/flip-flops/feet-slappies is “Slippahs”
I moved from the midwest to Australia a few years ago and I learned the hard way why they don't temperature control the homes 24/7 here... The energy source back home is hydro, the energy souce out here is primarily coal - and the cost difference is insane. That said, there's probably wayyy less of a reason to need to temperature control up in Queensland - I'm heading that way soon.
