I just filmed my first short film with one of these cameras. I would recommend it to anyone. It is so versatile and easy to use. It competes with the Cannon 5D MK ii in terms of getting that cinema look while packing all of the features that you would expect from a professional video camera.
Very entertaining review. Some claim they notice a disturbing issue with glare from the sensor. Did you have that experience? Also what camera was used to shoot the van shots and the technical overview???
Looks like a nice unit, but I would rather forget about the XLR for on-camera audio, and instead have high bitrate capability built-in and not have to go out to Nanoflash for optimal file quality. I prefer to use Sound Devices 702T recorders for audio.
You will not fool anyone with "AVCCAM compression system". It is a regular Level 4.0 AVCHD. Yes, it does have LPCM audio, but Sony's camcorders have it too, LPCM has been part of AVCHD spec since day one, just like 24 Mbit/s bitrate ceiling. Thanks for the shots made with the Lumix 14-140. Basically, the same quality can be attained with the GH2 for one quarter of the price of the AF100, and with one quarter of its ergonomics. Philip Bloom was more fun without trying to be funny.
Tho the review is solid, bringing the information i needed, the amount of 'top gear' made it a bit tough for me to take CVP serious. You did some good testing, providing me with a clear view of what this camera has to offer. And ofcourse it's good to keeps things light by putting humor to it. But it was way too cheesy, wich in my case, distracted me from the purpose of the video. Again, good review
love the VW, nice review entertaining and informative panasonic told me the warranty they have is limited to the country where you buy the product in, so if i travel as i do and have issues with the camera im going to have problems, whereas sony told me the warranty they have is international
Still the picture quality of this camera does not amaze me to the point of buying it. I feel the 7D has a better image! At least when you compare test in you tube and vimeo

I agree. Very odd with lame attempts at humor. The VW bus is the best part. Wish "The Squirrel" was a better camera person. Hard to tell how this camera performs based on this footage. What a waste to give these folks the camera...
