    Hey Jay, Thanks for posting Andre’s story of faith unedited (allowing him to connect his Artistry with his faith in God without hindrance).

    This is really interesting because Andrey and I grew up playing in very similar ways. Not playing well at all at the start, couldn't read music, couldn't improvise. And then we both had a teacher who made us grow into better players, and through hard work and practice we have come very far from what we were. But wow, what a tone he has on that thing. That guy is going places.

    He deserves all the good things that have, and are still coming to him! - What a beautiful player (and soul) Bob James sounds like an incredible human as well - although one might have guessed this from his music too 😊 Thanks Jay!

    Extremely moving. Thank you, Jay, for sharing this with us and introducing us to Andrey. Thank you, Andrey, for sharing your story and for your humility, grace and perseverance in the face of extreme adversity. And thank you, Bob James, for all you've done to help Andrey survive and accomplish his dreams. This is what it's all about.

      Willie, I totally agree. What an amazing story. God’s grace for this young man is an amazing blessing. Jay nailed it when he said “ with all the adversity from where Andrey started and did not give up “ is a testament to all of us who inspire to be a better player/musician, or anything else, bottom line,.. do not quit or give up. Andrey’s faith in God and belief persevered, to greatness.

    I love Andre! I ran into him in Orlando at IKEA of all places and he was very kind and introduced him to my family. I love seeing him get more recognition as I think he is one of the best alto players right now. With his story and talent he could win AGT.

    Reading the comments and it takes me back to Ukraine when I started playing sax around 80. It was just classical because jazz was actually prohibited and there was time when people was jailed for playing jazz. My parents spend a lot of money to buy tenor sax from at that time Czechoslovakia Amati super classic because Soviet union wood winds instrument was terrible and my teacher demand a good instrument because he told my parents if I play bad instrument I will hate to play it. I enjoy playing it but when I finished school I stopped playing because usually at that time during Soviet union time it was a strange think to play any kind of instrument for yourself to enjoy it if you was not a musician. And I stopped. When i moved to Canada at 90 i was amazed to see how different it was compering to the culter i was brought up. In canada or usa we have more people playing music who are not professional musicians. And its great. Couple years ago I buy alto sax and start playing once again. Now it just jazz. I am 50 now and it's so sad we don't have that opportunity back then to enjoy playing jazz. I know a lot of people from ukraine or other former soviet inion republics who after they moved to canada or usa start playing music again. Thanks for the interview. Its inspiring.

    What an amazing story! My grandson loves the sax. In school, they kept switching him to different instruments just because the band was short of those particular instruments. He finally got frustrated and dropped out of band. So sad how the schools treat students.

    • @jamiemeansjamesmusic
      @jamiemeansjamesmusic 11 місяців тому +1

      That's very sad... I'm sorry that happened. Band directors are like that, they need students to play instruments they need in the group. Sometimes it works out and the kid ends up liking that instrument, but sometimes the kid hates it, and drops out of band. Hopefully one day your grandson can get a hold of a saxophone and learn to love playing it.

    Ukraine has got more of a classic saxophone tradition, than a Jazz one. There was a time, when Ukraine was a part of USSR, when saxophone was nearly prohibited, due to it's being considered a western instrument, that spoiled soviet people
