its certainly a unique death for a ';dragon ball' villain sure it does take away goku er moneky's relevance as the hero but it IS a very unique and fun death for a villain, and a good way of using the earlier set up of him eating the dragon pearls so noone can take them from him against him

Bulma had promised a walk/date/private time for Master Roshi if he put out the fire. I think it's a pretty good representation of the denial stage of grief. Also, sometimes I just enjoy crude humor. I don't feel like everything needs to be clever or high brow
6:52 Honestly, I'll definitely defend Beast Wars there 'cause at least it was the second full-time CGI show ever made and the animators were professional, you can tell by the way the characters were animated that they at least know how to properly move characters around and have the mouths match the VAs... the CGI here is straight-up from a decade later (from the remaster, like they said) and those things in this movie are barely even animated to begin with xD
Can't speak to the DB anime, but Bulma having Oolong transform to fulfill her promise to Roshi is definitely in the Manga (it's where I learned what a "puff-puff" was, because Oolong decided to offer Roshi one of those instead of just sticking to the "flash your tits" deal).
12:42-12:53 They’re both right. In the manga/anime, Roshi agrees to help put out the fire on Mt. Frypan so Bulma can search for the dragon ball under the condition that she allows him to touch her. Bulma coerces Oolong to shape-shift into her and let him handle Roshi instead, but Oolong takes it a step further and has Roshi do more than what he initially proposed. Because movie 1 is a loose adaptation of the first arc of Dragon Ball, the movie reworks the scene to take place at Kame House and the dragon ball Bulma wants in exchange is the one Roshi originally had as a necklace.
Only a bit in but its possible what Lani is remember at 12:52 is Puar turning into Bulma to trick Goku so that Yamcha can sneak into their capsule house and steal a dragon ball. It happens pretty early on in the anime, like maybe the first 10-15 episodes.
Grandpa Gohan being called Sparkles reminds me of Spike Witwicky somehow being renamed Sparkles in the Hong Kong dub of Transformers: Headmasters. I did seen a few clips of this movie's dub and I knew Pilaf was voiced by Galvatron in the Headmasters dub. A dub that's the same quality as the Big Green dub.

When Puar does this he also turns into that short, fatter bulma we saw for a few seconds in the clip.
I was waiting for the "sequel' for this!
Had no idea this was a thing too. Well last film was pretty interesting and has heart of it, how about this one..
The way Nick said MeUndies the first time had me waiting for him to follow up with "MEUNDEEZ NUTZ"
While I still prefer the Korean one, this one is still better than Evolution
Watching paint dry is better than evolution
Path to power was better. The GT Goku Jr movie was better than evolution
@@Silversnake27 No, watching Evolution with the TFS riff track is better.
I got the original version of this from Suncoast way back in the day. I loved introducing it to new people. I had no idea they did a remaster of it. I really loved the puppet dragon from the version I watched, though the CG one seems…interesting, lol
I first watched the magic begins in early 2006 it blew my mind
Oh god I never knew there's a shitty CGI version, no wonder you thought this movie sucks. Why would they obscure the well choreographed fights and wireworks with bowling alley CGI. The original version is on UA-cam if you look for it.
@@kiptelgat the cgi is looks worse than Tony Hawk’s Boom Boom sabotage animated movie.
I used to have the VHS of this. Was hoping you cover this.
I was not prepared for Lani's yard tool joke. 💀 Goddamn!
You guys being in Train to Busan is cool as hell! Congrats, guys!
Holy christmas spirit, they added the stable volume option just for your reviews guys. It made the video 5x times more enjoyable, when I wasnt getting jump scared by the screams of excitement.
27:52 it would have been so funny if it was just Serpenterra painted gold as Shenlong
6:54 Beast Wars mention!
13:03- when I saw Bulma’s goodies! I was excited Just LIKE THISSSS!!!! (Eyes turn into daggers)
14:57 it’s because Krillin doesn’t show up till after the Dragon Balls are introduced and the first arc. Yamcha, Bulma and Roshi will always be in the live action lineup. krillin sadly is sequel bait
Oolong turning into bulma happens in the anime for the ox king castle, when bulma was wearing a bunny suit
I still remember when they riffed this with Linkara at a convention, and somebody started singing "American Dragon" 😂
Watched this movie with friends earlier in the year in response to Toriyama passing. Roshi really does steal every scene he's in.
HOLY SHIT!!! Y'ALL WERE IN TRAIN TO BUSAN?!
Cgi in this film is lower quality than the earlier seasons of Reboot.
The CGI would be impressive if it was Tron in *1982*
Buckle up, next one's gonna *_hurt,_* folks.
I remember a friend of mine showed me the original on VHS in highschool way back when. What a ride
8:12 Daima: "Actually, the aliens you thought were Demon Kings were actually Demon Kings."
Now this is the live action dragon ball i remember. This would pop on UA-cam all the time in the 2000s
You guys are going straight to Evolution. I was hoping you guys mention Future Cops with knockoff Goku saving the day with knockoff Street Fighters. I remember one of the comments from last week mentions that Korean Goku appeared in other films.
"And why's Son Goku there?"
"And why not?"
"...Okay!"
Watched this on VHS back in the early 2000s, it was certainly a movie that existed
I had a huge crush on this bulma as a kid
I rented this from the video place that exists in our local Japan Town, and it was the non-special edition one, and it was still titled Dragonball: the Magic Begins.
So, yeah, I think the release it had in the US always made it connect that way.
Wish there was a way to see the original version nowadays.
What a treat
i watched this movie on vhs when dbz wasn't even out there (europe). audio quality was much better without those remaster "upgrades". still so bad so good kinda movie, glad you enjoyed this roshi, amazing actor
Thanks for your content!
That Shen Long found Popo’s stash 😂 32:32
When the cut scene graphics and gameplay graphics transition seamlessly.
Happy Christmas all
Best live action DB movie (the original) I like how kinetic the wireworks and fights are. Also love the name changes its like they're avoiding getting sued.
I don't really care about your kangaroo undies but, I do want that Gremlins sweater you're wearing.
You guys said that there will be one more live action dragonball movie attempt. You guys are brilliant writers. Love dragonball. You can do comedy and serious moments. The Dragonball Abridged Movie Cinematic Series Universe is ready to go!
Holy crap i remember this movie! I haven't seen it in years but i still remembered how wild this movie was and how much fun it was lol
That CGI was from 2007? On Green God, ReBoot had better effects in 1994.
If it was from 1982 it would be groundbreaking
8:11 i keep expecting Daima is going to add in a bit that the ozaru are demons that evolved into people, man og legendary super Saiyan being the monkey king would be funny
