I just saw the Pixies last night and they played this. Vaporized my heart. I love this song. I came home and found this. I had no idea they recorded this. Awesome. Yes.
Neil Bridge School tribute cover album....This was their contribution. Check out Nick Cave's helpless! The whole album is uh, well, interesting...I remember it fondly....
just saw the Pixies in Manchester a matter of hours ago and i was so happy they played this…the final chorus was magical. we had all waited for them Winterlong, and they seemed to be where we belonged.
I love how on every cover the Pixies do, there's at least one person who calls it THE BEST COVER EVER.

Long Live The Pixies!
I had no clue why they play this song at the end of every concert, but once I went to see their concert in Tokyo last month, I figured out why. This song DID slap me hard! It was a simple but great farewell from them.
It has a more tender, punk-aesthetic feel to it. They make it uglier, but in a good way. Neil's is more longing and dramatic but Frank Black gives it his own spin without robbing it of the greatness Neil provided when he wrote the song. Plus I dig the chord alteraiton. A Pixies B-side and Neil sat on it for 3 years or so before releasing it so both versions were tucked away somewhere. Such a brilliant nugget feels like the kind of tune that shouldn't be out in the open as a lead track or single.
Francis & Kim harmonizing is dreamy...
I haven't taken the time to listen to this in so long. Such a great cover! This band could do no wrong back then!
I think a Neil Young version of Where Is My Mind? would be really good.

Some people seem to be unaware that this was first released on the covers LP called The Bridge - A Tribute To Neil Young (1989).
