  • In this video the travel turtles guide and review Hotel RIU Palace Santa Maria in Sal, Cape Verde. We provide a full walkthrough showing all elements of the hotel including food, the waterpark, rooms, restaurants etc.
In terms of our experience in Sal, we were unfortunately followed by a local man on a walk from the hotel to the local town of Santa Maria. It's highly likely that he was about to attempt to steal our camera or attack us, so we had to flee and turn off the device. Other parts of Sal were poverty stricken, so although the island is beautiful, keep your wits about you, as it is not as safe as advertised.

Other parts of Sal were poverty stricken, so although the island is absolutely stunning and beautiful, and the hotel is beautiful, keep your wits about you when travelling offsite, as it is not as safe as advertised.
