Rean breaking down with Towa is one of the reasons why I love the Trails series. The characters are emotionally realistic and you get attached to them.
honestly, this relationship out of all of them feels the most loving and natural, more so because Towa is not part of the main group so her scenes are more unique. Rean emotionally breaks down before her and only her, all the other girls feel generic "confession -> profit" in contrast Towa best girl, one of the most adorable(but not overdone) character ever
The thing is, these games do an amazing job to bond you, the player to each and every charakter. Thats why if they get hit hard, it feels like someone close to is going through rough times.
@@dogwithsunglasses4051 That games are a masterpiece indeed (and i'm don't even talk about when Millium start to cry at the end, i was crying like a little girl) Even when it's not main character that's hurt, those game are really good to put an ambience too, i remember feeling the NPC anxiety before the Chancellor speach in CSI, and just after the panick that followed the Noble Alliance attack, same with visiting the destroyed Celdic, i can't stay emotionless while talking to everyone, the NPC traumatized, Jusis' guilt, Otto's death, the injured at the church and even Becky's reaction, that's one of the rare non-cinematic scene that hit me so hard, and after that in the Courageous you can sense your crew's anger, or before taking trista or attacking Heimdallr, all your crew are filled with hope and support you, and again you can feel it That's what i like in game: the kind of scene when you just forgot that it's a game, you cry, you smile, you're angry or anxious like your character, if someone speak to me at that moment IRL i will legit take 2 sec to remember that i was just playing a game, that's what i call a "masterpiece" (Mass Effect is the same for example)
trails in the sky 3rd and trails of cold steel 2 made me cry a lot, add zero no kiseki, ao no kiseki and trails of cold steel 4's last scene, you've got quite the tearjerker series
common critics for cold steel sga is there's too many character. too many love interest. I agree with it. I think the romance can be trimmed to 3or 4 love interest. I'd say Laura, Alisa, Ema and Towa are the one that can complement Rean nicely

When Towa cried to Rean about the pressure of being a commander, and exposed her vulnerabilities - made her best girl for me.
I can count on less than one hand, how many times I've cried during films, games etc, but this, this was really just too much
