I suggest it needs to be replaced. There is a rubber sleeve which separates the pump housing and pump. This breaks down after sometime, causing metal to metal contact, which may well be the noise you here. Alternatively, pumps do become louder, prior to failure. Ask yourself how old is the pump …if it’s old, replace it. Internal access will have to be gained, as per my video. Clean the gauge pick up once accessed.
It will create a vacuum within the tank, effectively loading up the suction side of the pump and creating flow/displacement/supply problems with it.

What hapen if you put the vent tube in the draining one? And the draining in the vent?at the pump assembly
