I'm so glad I held out and didn't get the original figure, because I like this version way, way more. I was so excited when I found him at Target, 1 amongst a sea of the regular version and movie Riddlers. Then, a few days later I was at a different Target and bam, they had like 5 of the gold label and I was like, dang it, I thought he was gonna be rare and hard to find. I was going to leave him in the box and hang in up on the wall, but now, I guess I might as well open him and play with him haha
After your review, I went to target to buy this variant to go on my shelf. I like the other one too. The extra paint is nice on this one. I'll likely customize the original one later on. Is your chest LED blindingly bright? I'm considering pulling the torso to either buff the clear plastic with steel wool or a court of matte modge podge to get better diffusion.
I don't think this is a must own but I'd certainly pick it up over the standard release really just for the light up feature. Personally I think the dry brush as applied isn't working for me. The bat emblem shouldn't have been clear plastic. It should have been frosted to diffuse the light. Also a simple set of instructions for turning it on/off would have helped. It's simple to do(button at his neck) but no attention is drawn to it. Green Lantern would be PERFECT for a light up feature if they diffuse the light. So would Superman to make the Red S pop even more. Lex Superman would have been good with a light up as that's what it does in the comics.
Hmm, I think I still prefer the original, except for the utility belt, gun holster and hoses being painted better on the gold label version. The black armor fits the figure better I feel, though a few highlights could help break up the solid black. Nothing I can't do myself!
I'm very glad I picked him up. I'm pissed that I bought the one we really didn't want all that much first. I guess from a business perspective, it makes sense, but why would you want to piss off your customers and lose good faith with tactics like this?
Unlike ZSJL Darkseid. The light up version went up for preorder at the same time as the standard version. So we were well informed this was coming. The problem was it was supposed to come out at the same time as the standard release. I don't know whose shoulders to put that on. If it's a pandemic shipping delay. Blame the pandemic. If it's Target not fulfilling preorders in a timely manner then blame them. But we knew it was coming so not waiting is on our shoulders.
Would have been nice to know the battery type, where and what the trigger is, and if the light can stay after being activated, or if it times out, or is purely momentary and works only as long as the trigger is held. Also, at my Target, this figure goes for a few dollars more than the regular version.
You compared this Gold Label with those awesome good looking light up Chinese KO figures. Because of that, im gonna buy the figure. I mean this Batman not those KO. Thank you.
2:00 man you Effin Right!!! That light!!! Got me!!! Yo may go pick him up and bat bike bike 🏍
Hope Todd does more light features on some figures
You’re awesome I bought both as well and agree
