Duke QB Daniel Jones
Junior 6’5 220 lbs
Many people say that it’s a weak QB class, but Duke QB Daniel Jones did his best to stick out this past season. He showed his mobility that scouts loved, but he also showed an improvement in his accuracy on throws down field. He has the size NFL teams look for in a QB, which is why people expect him to be drafted in the 1st round by a team that really needs a QB.

I was just curious to see why he's either doubted, hated or pitied by fans and media pundits. He seems to have good mechanics, a quick release, nice throwing motion and he even stood in the pocket and took a hit while getting the ball out. It's up to the Giants' coaching staff to put this guy in the best situations that will allow him to play to his strengths. May not be a HOFer but he could have a solid career if utilized properly.

Last year, Duke QB Daniel Jones was getting some 1st round buzz, but he decided to return to school. This year, he’s getting a little more 1st round hype because the QB class is being viewed as a “weak” one. That’s a big reason why people expect Jones to be drafted early by a team that is in need of a QB.

Broncos traded down just after the Giants picked so it’s safe to assume they wanted Jones, and I feel the skins would have taken him also. Either way he would have not been there at 17. Love or hate the player he would have not been available at 17

So pumped as a Giants fan, he’s going to be a great pick I’m telling ya! Groomed by the Manning’s, great QB size, very mature and smart, fits the Giants offense like a charm, very tough kid. The Giants have Shep, Engram, Tate, a good o-line, and Barkley around him, that’s a lot of young youth for a new QB! The best thing is that he won’t be thrown to the wolves right away, he will learn behind the greatest Giants QB ever for a long time. Go Giants!

I hope the Giants put some adequate talent around him and he succeeds. Jones has a lot of talent and busts his tail every day in the film room and on the practice field. There’s a reason he went from walk on to 1st round pick. I wish people that know nothing about him would shut the hell up. He had no line, no receivers, no running backs, nothing around him at Duke. You can see him getting drilled in half these highlights because the protection was non-existent. He’s a gamer. He’s tough. He’s athletic. He’s very smart. There’s some dimes in this video. He’s a good football player. If you preferred Haskins and his wide open throwing windows with five star talent all around him, that’s fine. But I urge Giants fans to give the kid a chance.

As a giants fan was not happy when he was drafted and still not happy with him afterwards. Biggest issue is I dont think he has the arm strength u need to play in a windy outdoor stadium. I also am not sure with how he runs awkwardly that he'll stay healthy for long. Feel like if we waited one more year we coulda got Justin Herbert with our pick who would fit so much better than daniel jones.

This is the right mindset. I wish more people would think like this. Of course it would be awesome to have a rookie come in & start right away, but that doesn't happen often. And when it does happen, fan bases tend to quickly bash them after struggling as a rookie. People want results fast, but skip the development part. Yes, there are exceptions where a rookie like Andrew Luck already looks poised & didn't need to sit, but there's a reason why scouts said he was a once in a generation type prospect.
JustBombsProductions I totally agree it’s important that when you invest in players that you draft as a corner stone you put them in the best possible positions. I would love to see this kid with the Saints sitting behind Brees and Peyton one of the best HC who develops QBs...

Didn't know him before the draft, but the fact that this guy is getting hated on before he even starts his career, has made me a fan.
Reminds me of Shaun hill , who had good accuracy but weak arm strength. The ball seems to float on him & had bad pocket presence although at times put together some good games. I’d say a back up game manager at best.

Good enough arm strength, good mechanics, accurate, decent athlete, definitely has potential. I think if he does what Pat Mahomes did and sit his entire rookie season and then takeover I think he can be really good.
I'm so sorry but the more film that I watch of this kid, the more and more I get impressed. Look how quick he is getting rid of the ball for one? And most times, when blocked correctly and with time, he holds it for about 4 seconds...at his quietest m about 2 .sec tops ...and it's not only that looks at his wide reciver motions to find the decisive decision were or what he's gonna do. It's a mostly a 1,2,3, motion and it's out quick. The ball is out before the defenders know what's going on. And his scramble abillity? Don't get me stared. Not the very best ever but at least it's not Eli just standing there. This kid can make things happen very quick with his legs and brains. Just hope it all works well. And too the other draft picks....those guys also need to be watched....may be good things down the road.

Phil Simms was drafted in 1979, when there wasn't the resources to scout and analyze tape as there is today. Horrible example. Today scouts are able to breakdown film of prospects from Div 1, Div 2 and the FCS and with social media, small school players appear on the radar constantly.

Cody Jorgensen 2:25 2:45 3:00 all plays he goes through progressions. Most of these plays the first read is wide open for a touchdown. But that’s good coaching. He can make the throws and is putting it where only the wr can get it which is nice. First round worthy in my opinion. He’s a faster and more athletic version of josh Allen out of Wyoming last year. Josh Allen may have more arm strength...

This guy is going to be the best qb in his class. Great build for a qb (6’5 215lbs) great pocket presence, can run a bit too if need be, terrific accuracy and gorgeous touch. Lock and Haskins are overrated if you ask me

I honestly like this guy more than Haskins. Hes already used to throwing against a real NfL pass rush while Haskins O Line gave him enough time to sleep and wake up before he threw it. Compare the highlight videos you can see Haskins half the time has day and night while this guy is jus making plays
