      This excerpt establishes the difference in how man and The Most High perceive things particularly pertaining to appearance. I believe this excerpt is where He’s choosing a king for Israel amongst Jesse’s sons.

    Seems a decent guy. Very successful career on the whole, certainly pre England and, up until Southgate, one of the better England managers for some time, recent ones anyway when you think Hodgson, Keegan, Capello. I liked Sven and we were unlucky in the tournaments we had with him. And that 5-1 against Germany was brilliant. Bit of a character too by all accounts.

    Sven had the management game in his pocket for a few years. Same team every time. Go to a few matches, hospitality laid out, few holidays, millions per year, millions to leave. That England job was money for old rope back then. Capello then jumped on the bandwagon. Same thing. No risks taken. Just played the big names and picked up the cheque.

    • @Cream147player
      @Cream147player 4 роки тому +10

      You omit McLaren, who was way worse than those two. And then there was Hodgson, who managed to last 4 years of failure. Nothing has really changed about that job to this day.

    • @cgopie1
      @cgopie1 4 роки тому +28

      Easy to say this in hindsight, but he played three tournaments with England and got to the QFs every time. You could say we could have achieved better than that with the players we had, but remember we were knocked out in 2002 narrowly by a Brazil team who won the WC that year, with a team containing Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Rivaldo, Cafu, Roberto Carlos, Juninho and others, and in 2004 and 2006, we were twice knocked out by Portugal (with a team containing Figo, C.Ronaldo, Rui Costa, Deco & Nuno Gomes) on penalties, where we were extremely unlucky both occasions. What player should have been in the team in that time that would have made us a better team? Unless you feel picking someone like Francis Jeffers over Ballon D'Or winner Michael Owen would have been the key to our success? You could say he should've left out Heskey, but then that would contradict your "no risks taken" and "just played the big names" comments and incidentally every single striker at club/international level had a better goalscoring ratio with Heskey in the team than without. He gave 20+ caps to the likes of Vassell & Dyer, played Wayne Bridge as left-mid, same with Scholes, picked a 16 year-old Walcott for the 2006 World Cup squad and in total used 72 different players in just 5 years of managing England. He tried a plethora of players, and rightly decided that the regulars should remain the regulars because they were the players that gave us the best chance of winning games at that level. If you felt we could've done better with the players we had, then fair enough, but how on Earth could you say Sven didn't take risks?

Our press at tbe time were a disgrace of illegal bugging, stealing, hacking, lying. A sad time when they were allowed to break a story that broke a player, a group, a manager, a marriage on eve of a tournament. This bloke was a disgrace as England manager.
    But for him we'd have won in 2002.
    Negative negative negative.
    Why give him time?

    Two league titles in a part time division, two league titles in a league with only 12 teams and one in Italy that he won on goal difference (correct me if I’m wrong) after spending a boat load of money.
    He’s a blagger. Because of his look and his methodical speech pattern people think he’s smarter than he actually is.
