Honestly even though the Tilian Era of DGD is my favorite by far, I can't help but wonder how awesome it would have been if we got at least one more album with Kurt
Also, wait till you hear Turn Off The Lights, Im Watching Back To The Future pt II off of Acceptance Speech. The guitar solo in that song knocks my socks off every time
@@vinny1537 that's kinda what I thought when I first started listening to him on for the first time in dgd, but his voice slowly started growing on me the more songs I listened to
@@vinny1537 The edgy, moody side of post hardcore severely outweighed the classic 80s and 90s style of post hardcore in the 2000s partly due to bands like Jawbox, Hum, At the Drive-in, etc either going inactive or breaking up entirely. The scene was dominated by bands like The Used, Underoath, and Senses Fail. And then Jonny's r&b influenced vocal style came around. Kurt brought more of a rough, funk style vocals to DGD and in tow the instrumentals changed to a somewhat more upbeat, mathy tone to better compliment his vocals. This is when the band REALLY started standing out from the pack.
So happy to see you enjoy this. Cant wait for you to finish up this amazing album. I personally love the guitar work on the next album DBM2 as Will Swan did all the guitar work since Zachary Garren leaves the band after this one.
Yup an all time DGD great jam for sure! Glad you enjoyed it as much as us too. Happiness is up next whenever you get to it, not as urgent as Carl Barker was. I do think there are a couple guitar solos in Uneasy Hearts weigh the Most on the Deathstar album (1st was after the chorus and before 2nd verse, 2nd solo was after the breakdown and before the outro) but im no musician so i dont know if theyre technically solos or not lol.
Next song is happiness - sad song but i also think its great. Its instrumental track is incredible imo as it has lots of stuff that you can barely notice in the full song

I love how you get it so well dude. No other dgd reactors get it on the deeper level like you do man.
DBM2 is going to be such a treat!
We can thank Jason Ellis on bass for the funk on this album!

Yesssss finally! Easily a Top 10 DGD Song in my opinion
Just heard it for the first time..... can’t say the same lmao. I just can’t understand the hype around the Kurt era.
Every singer that i listen to is the best clean singer of DGD in that moment.
@@vinny1537 it's simple. You didnt live through it.

Hey Chris, what inspired listening to DGD from DTBM1?
when you arrive to Downtown battle Mountain 2 that will be so awesome
Out of all the DGD songs you heard which vocalist do you prefer? For me it's kurt travis
Jonny for sure..
Why Kurt.... I don’t get it. The dude sounds so whiney.. I can’t stand it lmao. jonny can do everything this guy does but better
@@vinny1537 Jonny has so much more power n soul in his vocals forsure
Honestly I will have to listen to the top 3 tracks from each side by side to give a better opinion XD I love them all personally.
