- I install a Factor 55 UltraHook. But is it actually better than my stock Warn winch hook? I give you my recommendations. It may not be the one you think.
Let me know if you have questions or any suggestions regarding the video. I'd like to make the best videos for you, so don't be shy!
Thanks for watching!

I appreciate your honesty!! Im kind of interested in one just because I like the way it sits tight to the fairlead
Which is a good enough reason! Plus, you can be sure it’ll do the job.
FACTOR 55 is a much better product than the conventional hook. Safer, stronger, and much better looking. We are proud they are part of the WARN family of brands. Just wait until you see what they release next.
I agree 💯.
Safer, stronger and better looking. That’s why I have one.
…but,…⚖️💸🤔
..and looking forward to what’s next from Factor 55! 💯
Not worth the money for sure. Just get a Badlands for like 30 bucks and your set. Sits Flat too.
Hmm. Never knew about the badlands. Good find.
First, I like you being honest. 2nd, look at hooks to do with wreckers, recovery. There are real cool safe hooks and things out there cheaper.
Thanks, friend. Good tip!
Someone will steal your $300 prestige hook in
Good point! Another reason not to get it! 😅
Excellent point- I've been off roading for about 50 years and never seen one of them hooks fail-like you said there are other problems, but that hook ain't one of them- Thanks for posting
Thanks brother. Trail safe!
Well done video comparison. Reasonable tone, well researched and delivered with some humor.
Thanks.

Thanks friend.
I got a crazy video coming soon. Might not be for everyone, but it’s kind of out there. 😅
Glad you liked the video.
Nice Vid. I have a Flat Link with the guard on it. I had considered getting the hook, but honestly, the flat link works, because you will most likely use a shackle or soft shackle anyway. The UltraHook does look cool as all heck.
Thanks friends.
Imo, keep the flat link. … the hook does look pretty nifty tho 😅. .. but just keep the flat link 🤓
This hook is the bomb, but I am probably going to go with zero metal; soft shackles only, and use the yankum groove fairlead. That would be safer than not going offroad *lol*
Never heard of yankum. They look cool. Personally, if doing it over again. I wouldn’t buy the ultra hook.
@@neverendingweekend that's good to know. I mean, at least it looks bad ass :)
Yankum ropes with brummel locking loop and soft shackles is my next upgrade, zero metal. You know you can simply just splice your own brummel loop with your existing winch line.
@@eldedo8927 that sounds like the way to go. The bonus is that you don’t have carry around these big heavy metal bits. Thanks for the tip! 👍
This is a good one, great idea. Myself, I like the classic hook, especially if you're in a hurry. In heavy industry, we use a classic style hook and steel cable... I'll stick to what works. Though! The Factor 55 is cool looking... so if it's only about Cool Factor,... then okay, I get it.
I think it’s exactly that. If I could turn back the clock, this is one thing I wouldn’t get.
Let's face it. It looks better lol
💯😅
$280 is too much for a hook.
If you really think about it and you want to be really practical, anything over $60 seems too much for a hook. 😅
But just like anything, it comes down to budget and desire. 💸😉
Great video. We have the Ultrahook on one Jeep and the Warn Epic Sidewinder on the other. Both are superior to a standard hook in flexibility and safety. Yes they are more expensive, but you can’t put a price on safety.
True. They are the gold standard. Premium for a reason. Glad you liked the video.
Excellent video - Info, quality, presentation, humor, editing. Thanks!
We’ll, thank you, sir! I’m sincerely grateful that you enjoyed it. ❤️
Way to much money for a hook like that. Like the old saying goes. K.I.S.S Keep It Simple Stupid. Tried and true way works just fine. Dont fix what is not broken
💯
I have been four wheeling for 60 years and I have had a hook fail. I have never had a shackle fail. Not sure why you would use a shackle at the end of the hook when it could be interchanged. I think the least weight to be flying through the air at hundreds of miles an hour is best when something does break. Try not to use something sketchy and try to stay out of the way when it does break.
There you go everyone, hooks go fail! If you have the budget, buy the Factor 55. Thanks MrRander, for the heads up!
💯 No need to pose.
Nothing against F55.
But I've never had an issue with 'the hook'.
Plus I run steel, not twine. So I'll never need to replace anything.
Twine WILL break at some point.
Steel...highly unlikely.
Be cautious around that steel. 🤜🤛
Why not just remove the hook and connect a bow or soft shackle onto the winch line?
Beyond them sitting flat on the fairlead, redundant connections and the cool factor it seems like a waste of $$$.
I think you summed it up. 👍 But I don’t think those are necessarily bad things.
The soft shackle is an idea but I think you want something rigid to spool up against when packed away.
As an off road newb, I bought the flatlink link. It's great if you need to winch to another jeep, but completely useless for a quick winch on any type of car or street vehicle that doesn't have a shackle. It looks cool, but I'd rather have the hook that came with the Warn.
I’ve never even thought of that. I guess you’d need to carry some extra rope and shackle or 2. Then you’d be good for almost any situation. 💪
Soft shackles are perfect for those scenarios and safer than other options.
Awesome, another Asian Bronco owner. I got a 23 Badsquatch.
Congrats on the Bronco! It’s a great car. (Even though mine won’t start right now 🤔)
The odds are there will be more than a few Asian owners. 🤷♂️
Chalk up another one, but no Bronco. F-350 Super Duty Powerstroke. 49 years of off-road experience here. You heard me right. It's still a thrill after all these years.
Almost the cost of the winch 😆
Soo true .. 😞
Gotta go off roading bro! Worth it!
ty
yw! 😁
Just use a good bow shackle
💯
I don’t like hooks even if they are expensive billet
The ultra hook or hooks in general? 😉
@@neverendingweekend The ultra hook is a good piece, I would never use the hook part though. I don't like hooks in general I have a pro link and it's all I need. Ill use shackles but Im not going to use a hook even if its billet. Ive done a lot of recovery and a hook just feels like Im doing something I should not be doing like looping a tow strap over a ball hitch. Yeah your usually fine but I don't like that. Probably just me 🤣
@@patricksullivan9713 ahh. Got it. That makes sense. If I ever get stuck and went to get safely out, I know who to call ;)
Make more video please!!

You have it on upside down
What do you mean? When the ultrahook isn’t being used it should rest with the hook opening at the top? 🤔
No, you have it right...I was teasing you. Good vid....Except the part where you said not to buy one lol. They were actually designed for Ultra 4 racing...thats where the name Ultrahook came from.
@@r3volut1on 😏
Thanks. Cool about the Ultra 4 racing. Didn’t know about that. Makes sense.
3 Easy Payments 😅
