Yvonne’s comments about the transformation she underwent in the course of her pregnancy, the questions that she posed to herself about what traits she would pass on to her child, her comment about not only giving birth to her child, but also birthing herself as a mother, reaffirm what I have suspected for sometime, which is that she is not only a extremely talented actor, but she is also a sensitive and introspective person.
All the actresses in The Handmaid's Tale are Phenomenal. In particularly Amanda Brugel. When Moira takes Rita to "help" Asher/James. You not only hear Rita's soft & gentle voice but, you hear her 💔heart. I would have loved another scene with them in the kitchen.
I agree, that’s such a beautiful scene & it really shows what a huge & beautiful heart Rita has. She has so much compassion for others, even after all she’s been through. We almost forget that, as person who IS property of Gilead, Rita has had plenty of abuse herself but she manages to always be there for others & somehow sees the best in everyone. I loved when the show started to portray Rita as more loving & more caring than she was in the first & the even second season. The way she was kind of cold, kind of ‘I’ll do my job, you do yours & just stay out of my way’ & then she turns into someone who is much warmer than she appeared when we first got to know her as ‘just another Martha’ in Gilead. She’s an AMAZING character. She’s one of my favorites, so warm & caring, yet so strong. Let’s face it, Rita fucking rocks! I’ll never forget the scene when she gets off the plane & meets Luke, I think we were all crying our eyes out! “June did this, YOUR June did this”! 🥲
And to play off that, the sign of a phenomenal actress/actor is making the viewers then feel bad for you in the next moment. I think that's what I love/hate about Serena Joy so much. Yvonne plays her with this kernel of humanity under all the immorality, and when she chooses to bring it up to the surface, it's so easy to see the complexity of the character. Some of the worst characters in fiction are likeable even despite the fact that they're incredibly destructive. She's one of those vile characters that definitely still sees herself as the hero of her own story. You can see it in her reaction to being hated by others.... this sort of self-righteousness that completely rebuffs personal reflection.
Okay, here's the thing... Outside of the courtroom there are protesters in support of Serena, holding up signs of Love, encouragement and approval. The ironic thing is that technically, Serena is not allowed to read those signs. Also, I wonder how many of the women in that crowd are supportive enough to actually volunteer to go down to Gilead and become handmaids?
Isn't just books that they aren't allowed to read? Because the handmaidens get lists for shopping and the like. I think it's the act of read a book of purpose. If some one pushes a sign in her face and she knows how to read she can't help but read it. 🤣
@@pointeddown None of the products in Loaves and Fishes have writing on the labels, it's all pictures so there'd be no reading involved (blew my mind when I read about + observed that!). That's different from signs in the street obvs but just saying it's not just books that are prohibited, at least for Handmaids.
We have just had the incredible season finale here in UK, omg, what an ending! Can't wait to see 5th series. Yvonne is absolutely superb as Serena!! All the cast are brilliant.
Yes, she’s played some very different characters in different shows/movies & she’s one of the few actresses that, when you see her being interviewed like this, you just see Yvonne, you don’t see her as Serena at all. She is definitely not typecast & I think that’s hard to do, especially with the character who is so strong like Serena joy.
The detention room she stays in should look like June’s. Nothing empty. Give her a red dress.. Ugh she has it too good!! They should give her baby to someone else...
Love Yvonne she is such a stunning actress 😘 she should advertise for Swarovski Crystals because for the longest time I thought that was her actual surname 😆 💎
@@jacobjacquin It wouldn’t be if Fred were to stay in Canada and Serena would come back to Gilead right? Because then she’d just be a husband less woman with a baby. (Idk if it makes actual sense the laws in Gilead surprise me sometimes 😂)

I think itll be interesting how this works politically. The Waterfords getting this near miraculous pregnancy while in Canada, we see how the conservative religious crowd in Canada receives them as heroes. This seems to be on the news, I wonder how much Gilead is receiving and what will happen there.
I’m just gonna say this... I’m a conservative, but I would never cheer on Fred and Serena Waterford. And I don’t know one other conservative who would. I love this series, but I don’t like the way it automatically assumes that Christians would be in favor of a real-life-Gilead. It’s really frustrating.
@@Masshole4life I hope not. Hadn't Fred had handmaids before and what about the brothel? Why would it have taken so long for he and Serena to get pregnant?

This TV Show make me think how a socialist society can do to people. An authoritarian communist regimen just like there is in Korea, Cuba, China and Venezuela. It's clear that Christian religion in Gilead is not the point. It's a socialist Society.
What are you talking about? Norway, Sweden, Denmark are some of the socialist countries in the world. Socialism is working great for their countries, isn’t it?
@@fatimah941 You need to study socialism, watch and think. Socialists don't think. They just repeat the same think they learned in the brainwashing process and wait for the opinion of their leaders.
And look how quickly she stopped caring about Nicole once she got her own baby. Lol
I’m glad she did, I wanted her to get distracted by something to take her attention off Nicole
Omigod I didn't even realize that!

This season has been epic. Cannot fault the acting. Literally has me on the edge of my seat every single episode
Her outfit and jewelry is spot on!
It’s so cute that she’s switching between an American accent to an Australian one
