Hey man, if possible you should get another cat or dog. I get what you're going through because I have experienced the same thing many times already. No matter how weird or wrong it feels at first to get a new cat or dog, eventually, you'll love them regardless because they give so much love. It usually takes just a few days to get accustomed to the new dog or cat. Anyways I hope you'll get a new dog or cat man, they really help you with your sadness from your last one. Stay safe. Lots of love from the Netherlands.
I know you are going to feel better when you get another cat. I've had many cats in my life and it doesn't mean you love the other cat any less. Just make sure you have a good connection before you get one. Personally is the most important
Yes. My family has 5 cats now and I love them all, but there's one or two that I feel like I especially connect with. Like our souls are connected. Interact with different cats and find the right fit and personality for you.
Pets can always pick up on bad vibes and there presence alone and cute face are a sure fire cure for the blues. I got myself a pup little over a year ago and it's done wonders for my depression, they are always happy to see you. Hope you find a new cat if you feel you're up to it. Rockin the mutton chops btw lol
Sorry you are feeling lost, in my experience feeling lost has to be one of the most unpleasant, awful feelings beside feeling alone. Thats great your considering getting a new cat. Animals can be an amazing source of support and it is an incredible feeling when an animal expresses that they trust/enjoy being around you.
I know my dog for sure helped with my paranoia. I used to not be able to sleep because I thought someone was going to kill me while I was sleeping. After I got my dog I was able to sleep soundly because I knew she would wake me up if someone tried to come inside at night.
When my cat died 7 years ago quit my job started therapy but had a whole total life change it's also a mid-life crisis. Never gotten another pet sense. I think one of the best features of having a cat or dog is if you're paranoid seeing the cat calm makes you also calm. You trust their Superior senses. And you can blame minor noises in the night on the pet
I think getting another cat would be so great for you. They don't require too much work and animals, especially cats and dogs, are so loving. They're always happy to see you and they love just being around you. You don't feel so alone and whenever you have a bad day you can go and cuddle and talk to them about it and they're happy to sit and listen. My boyfriend has a dog and she's helped him so much. He's been through trauma and every day is a struggle but she brings so much joy to his life. Just having her around. Recently, I had to keep her at my house for a while which is miles away from him. He said he felt empty without her. He would call her name and forget she wasn't there anymore. He's so happy to have her back now. And I know she's happy to be back with her daddy. Getting another animal doesn't mean your replacing an old one. I know it feels like it and can make you feel guilty. Like you've forgotten the last one and moved on, like they weren't special. But they were. And no other animal could ever replace them. Your just getting some new company to keep. My boyfriend talks about his childhood dog from time to time. He misses her. She was a great dog. His current dog is totally different (Also a great dog, I love her). Different personality, different behavior, different breed, different likes and dislikes. And that's okay. Every animal has they're own unique personality. He loves her just as much as his old dog.
my flatmate has a big little dog named meeko and she drives me crazy angry while vic is at work but i secretly love her and the time we spend together she helps me with depression
My condolences, Jacob. I think it would be impossible to replace your kitty because she was unique, like every living being & every relationship is. That being said, maybe you will find a different loving cat to keep you company & develop a beautiful relationship with too, they will also be unique, and your previous kitty will still live on in your heart and memory, honoring her and your bond & time together. I feel like there's never enough time and like we can't ever be prepared for these events, and grieving is necessary and personal, each of us will do it in our own way and time. I also lost my cat, it was a couple of days ago in a tragic event, my heart is completely shattered and I don't know how I'm gonna get through this, but I know I will. If you do get another cat I hope it works out well, and in the meantime I really hope you can find reasons not to give up and can feel better soon. My deepest sympathy to you.
I'm so sorry about ur cat Jacob. I remember when u mentioned she hd passed. What a wonderful/horrible feeling all at the same time when u see her. I believe she IS coming to u Jacob. To say hello but then she has to leave quickly. She probably misses u and nds to say she loves u. Ahhh, I don't think it's a betrayal to ur cat Jacob. I think she wd understand. When u have ur new cat and she pops in u can be just as excited to c her. Unfortunately in this life we need love to feel ok. Hopefully in the next realm the love will just b flowing for everyone. I feel that way as well, lonely alot and alone. You r such a good person Jacob, u rly are. Get the new cat. ❣️❤️
I don't think your cat would feel like you are replacing them. I think they would want you to be happy with someone else. My cat lived to 21 so I get how you feel.
I think your cat would want you to be happy, and feel supported, so I hope you remember that when you get a new one. Plus, you would be giving a home to an animal that might end up in a shelter, or worse.
definitely get another cat! you'll love them, and then you'll realize there's no better way to honor your past friend than loving and taking care your new one. besides, you owe it to yourself to try and be happy. you and your new furry friend will be better off :)
Have you ever tried psychoanalytic treatment? I was skeptical when i started it… but it really helped. I think there’s a good number of psychoanalyst meeting via zoom or google meet. I think the theory might interest you
It's okay. Get another cat. It's not replacing the you lost. You can't. Every animal is a unique, one of a kind being. It's been about a year which is a good length of time to mourn and honour her. She would want you to be happier and feeling better. Go for it. :)
I'd say focus really hard on the things you enjoy doing, also it's good to have a psychiatrist or a therapist you can talk to when you need to. Medication also helps a lot, but isn't a cure all.
I totally understand how you feel. I would suggest to get a female cat as they are so much better indoors ( my experiences) and they are so loving. I lost my cats and I am still grieving, but my heart is weak and expecting surgery soon so I will have to wait awhile. I really hope you will get a cat. I always got rescue cats. Blessings to you Jacob! I understand mental illness.
Animals.. and Space!! Fuck yeah! I sell Ragdolls, sometimes as an emotional support animal. You should look into them if you haven't heard of them, they are the coolest cat breed in the universe! Super social. They want to spend ALL their time with their humans. These are the type of cats that want to be your best friend ♥
I think the advice I would like to give you is go to your local animal shelter and pick yourself out an animal or honestly it'll really help you and the local animal shelters

it took me two years to mourn the loss of my cat.one year to accept.now i have a kitty.i believe a cat would bring much joy back in your life.
I'm sorry you lost your cat it must be hard to go through that. Especially since you've had your cat for a long time.
There is an animal out there that feels just like you do, that needs you as much as you need it/them.
I know you are going to feel better when you get another cat. I've had many cats in my life and it doesn't mean you love the other cat any less. Just make sure you have a good connection before you get one. Personally is the most important

I think for some people its not enough to just replace it as if we were talking about a toy or somethin

Animals are truly amazing. I hope you get to love and be loved by some more real soon.

If your deceased kitty appreciated you, deceased kitty would appreciate you sharing your life with another kitty.

I once seen seen schizophrenia being associated with cowardice, I would more associate it with confidence and fear
