I though (and still think) exactly the same. I was imagening guitarrists from the seventies listening to It for the first time when the LP was released...
Brilliant! Just sublime. I used to cycle back from school at lunchtime, when I knew the house would be empty, lie down on the living room floor with my head next to our Dancette record player's single mono speaker, blast this out for half an hour & then cycle back. Happy days!!
As well as the reproduction of live sounds, the smooth movement of the right hand and left hand is that of Richie Blackmore himself. What a high level performance, that can not be easily reached by most of cover guitarlists ! ライブサウンドの再現に加えて,右手・左手の滑らかが動きはリッチーブラックモアそのもの.腕利きのカバーギタリストでも容易に到達できない高いレベルに脱帽です.素晴らしいです!
0:44 epiphany a la Jeanne d'Arc :). Mgalbu is doing great job covering fully MK II Blackmore and now here you are with same excellent understanding of gear and Ritchie's playing technique. Huge feat. Bravo!
lol ;). Yes Mgalbu is doing some really good MK2 covers, he nails it as well for the playing as for the sound, we can feel there is a lot of work behind. I've seen quickly your channel and it looks to have a lot of good things there too. I will take some time to watch it soon. Merci for your comment Tomi.
Wow that was pretty much perfect! Excellent tone, and playing. You didn't miss a note. You can tell you've listened intently to Ritchie's playing for a while! How do you keep the tremelo from going out of tune?
Thanks a lot! :) If you want to keep the tremolo from going out of tune there are several tips to know, from the setting of the 6 plate screws to the way you mount your strings etc.. you can find some interesting tutorials about it on youtube. Or if you don't want to do it by yourself, asking to a luthier is a good solution too.
I have viewed most of those tutorials-the Frudua stuff, the Verhayen thing and other guys. (although I think they all have been very informative in their own unique way!) I have a "cheaper" model of a "strat." It is a Squier Bullet. It stays in decent tune if I don't do anything like do a dive bomb. Occasionally I can get it to where it won't go too much out of tune, even with a half-hearted dive, but unfortunately it is always going sharp on the 3rd and and 2nd string (when i pull on those strings near the nut they go back down to pitch so I know it is more a "top of the guitar issue" and i have sanded those channels a bit to make them more open, and changed the butterfly string trees to the Fender after market ones, put graphite on the nut channels and bridge saddles, changed orientation of the 3 springs-nothing really works. I even tried changing the bridge to floating and that actually helped a bit but the thing was resting my hand on the bridge made the guitar go sharp so I changed it back to fixed. I have resigned myself to just dealing with it. I think, since this is such a cheapie "strat" its not going to work like a American made Standard or a MIM one. Anyway thanks for the information! I appreciate it! Love the choice of music and playing!!
"update" sorry to bother....I have found a (possible) solution: I saw on one the youtube videos that you can (if the B string isn't "sitaring") have only the E string in the string guide. (I have the D and G in the other guide) So I took off the B from under that guide, and it worked for a bit, but then I noticed that the B was doing the sitar thing when played open. So now I am back to having all the strings under the guides. I re-sanded the nut and put more graphite/pencil stuff in there and so far it is ok. I think if you have a cheaper guitar like mine, if the B string doesn't sitar when played open it will stay in tune better. The G and B strings are the issue for me. Thanks for your help.
I had the same problem during years before I bought my first good strat. I had several cheap strats for years and for each one the tremolo bar was almost unusable. Personally I put some graphit lube under the string guide, and same thing for the nut and the saddles, it helps a little bit to stay in tune. Also, don't sand the nut too much because it will be even worst. Instaling some locking tuners can be a solution too. I hope this will help you.
@@mowjay {After adjusting the trem tension screws, springs, etc (which will stay like that forever)..} Before every string change, i use a graphite pencil in the nut. If you play classical rock, it should work and stay in tune. If you play Van Halen or Vai, get a floyd. lol
Hi Bro I've a question:Those notes during the interplay with the Organ...Are you using Neck Pickup with a little bit of distortion? However The sound is so clean...
Hi! Yes I use the neck pickup during the interplay with the Organ, and I roll down my Volume and Tone knobs to reduce the amount of distortion, you can see it at 2:46 just before the beginning of the solo. That's how I get the clean sound.
Nailed the intro mate! & the rest as well! Kudos. T'was the first album I bought as a 13 yr old in 1974 after being recommended by an older friend of the family! I put it on my parents turntable & thought WHAT THE FUCK! It still does it to me to this day. I've still got the LP as well.
Wow! Another epic cover! I love how you are able to get all the subtle nuisances. The bends with the whammy are spot on, finger positioning is true Blackmore, even the little finger flicking warm up right before you play a lead part - just like blackmore does live...amazing! For those of us that have listened to this record thousands of times, we can really appreciate it. Another question of curiosity - what type of strat is it in the video? Aside from the amps, I wonder if you get such good sound with a regular MIM(made in mexico) or if you need a custom shop? The whammy bar - you made yourself?
@darkCheer Thanks for your comment! To answer your question I used a custom shop for this video and I made the whammy bar by myself. I had a MIM years ago, I've changed the stock pickups with fender CS69. The sound was correct for what it cost but it's very far to sound like a custom shop strat which is way more expensive. Concerning the finger flicking warm up before the lead part, I never noticed I did that because it wasn't planned at all. I don't want to copy Blackmore to that point lol.
@@mowjay thanks for your answer! I have a MIM and was debating whether a custom shop is worth it compared to mim with cs69s. Its great to get real unbiased opinions by blackmore fans that play exceptionally well! So thank you! Which one did you get? Any suggestions for me before I buy one? Im trying to get as close as possible to early blackmore sound
@@darkCheer My MIM was a Fender Classic '70s. The best thing to do, if you can, is to try a Custom Shop model by yourself in a store before buying anything. It's the only way to realise how different it is compared to a MIM. It's not just a matter of sound. For example: you can't really use the whammy bar with a Mexican Strat to play Speed King, the guitar would be completely out of tune even before the end of the intro. Last thing if you want to get as close as possible to early blackmore sound, use a treble booster (like I did for my Highway Star cover) or a fuzz pedal (like I did in this video), it helps a lot ;)
Ah youtube, where I can wake up, have my coffee and discover a studio level performance that demonstrates every nuance of this recording. Thank You! One then imagines the day ends with a commute home in a red barchetta - mechanical music and music like this playing...
great 👍. Indeed, now there are many guitarists whose speed is truly extraordinary, but I have only recently found one who can imitate Richie Blackmore's playing exactly like the original..👍👍
Watching your other videos I realised that's a Marshall Major! No wonder it sounds so good. No other amp gives you the Blackmore tone like the Major. I had to custom build mine because I couldn't get one in good condition for the money I had. :)
Thank you mgalbu ! :) I wish I had more time to do it, I could have done better on the "Woffle" introduction.. It's not the tribute strat (it's way too expensive for me) it's a cs69 with a home made trem arm.
Yes, you're right, it's a Major. But I also use an old Vox ac30 as a preamp (behind me on the video) I think that's the secret of the Blackmore sound but don't tell it to anyone ;)
Wow! I have an AC30 too but I couldn't figure out a way to connect it to the Major and try that theory! How are you doing that if you don't mind me asking? Also, great work on the tremolo arm, I have the same CS69 Strat and I'd love to do the same!
The original fender stratocaster from blackmore... black costume... about 4599 euro... great guitar vs strong tremolo, great played, like the recording, all the slices vs the plectrum, riffing perfectly... distorted sound, great job man,
@@mowjay oh really! I thought that sweep picking was used by 80s. Can I ask you whether the A minor arpeggio from Child in Time solo should be performed using sweep picking? Thanks in advance
