Can’t believe they are charging for the upgrade! I thought it was free for Roland Fantom users. I think Yamaha and Nord are on the side of the “musicians” and not “the consumers” like Roland and Korg. But hey… To each their own 😊
The JD800 was my favourite synth because in the 90s we loved the sparkles of the Synclavier sounds. In the era of virtualization I only miss the JP8000 with its original presets. Please Roland, make it for the Cloud.
Zen-core engine can dupe JD-800 sounds on its own just fine, and with better filter options. Same goes for the "PCM engine" of Fantom-X, Fantom-G, FA keyboards, Juno-Di and Juno-DS. Upgrade to anything newer. Now, if you want more sound design controls, the only modern alternative is Jupiter-X.

Please update the Fantom 0 to use some of the 2GB of sampling space to allow us to install more expansions. Expansion space is severely limited. Also, please do something about the polyphony limitations. Can't sustain basic pianos layered with pads for more a single measure without sounds dropping off the cliff. Love the keyboard - but these limitation are very frustrating.
Is the 0 series limited by software? I mean. -- can polyphony & expansion storage be updated by a software patch? I agree+- polyphony is terrible on the Fantom 0 series. Creating more than 4 layers definitely maxes out the machine.
Isn't the polyphony the exact same on the fantom 0 series as the flagship fantom line? I do agree though, the way polyphony is calculated is quite misleading on these boards.

Can we have this kind of upgrades for let's say some cheaper stuff? I mean i would love to have it on let's say Roland groovebox or Gaia 2. I don't even think ACB needed for Fantom. It can produce a lot of sounds on it's own (that's why it's like 4 grands in Europe), so why bother? But for some smaller cheaper synth it would be a life saver!
2 things We want either the JP8000 or V-Synth to return. And, from what I've seen, the install process for this is a complete nightmare. Please fix this. Also, as I understand it, if you install this, and then later sell your Fantom, if the new owner registers it, it wipes out the upgrade with no hope of getting it back except for the new owner to buy it. Everyone keep that in mind.

Both the Jupiter-X and Juno-X have their own unique front panels, which you can't really replicate with the Fantom. You can get close functionally, but it will never be a 100% substitute.
Does anyone know if a sound from the Fantom G can be downloaded into the Fantom? I have both a Fantom G and a Fantom but there's one particular sound in the Fantom G that I don't want to lose. (I'll be selling the Fantom G now that I've got the Fantom to replace it).
Zen-Core has a lot of sounds from past Roland synths. But those are more legacy sounds. My suggestion would be to sample the patch or sample the partials from your Fantom-G, note down the settings and recreate it within the new FANTOM.
Literally no Synths beat Yamaha sounds and its Articulattions 😌.... for instance Yamaha Tyros 5 and Genos (Arranger keyboards) AND of course Yamaha Montage 2016 and Now the real beast, literally, without any exaggeration and bias, Montage M series..... takes the win easily and righteously. In case if acoustic sounds, i believe almost everyone agree that Yamaha is/has been number One for many decades Although I personally own Kronos 2 and Fantom O-8..... beside Montage, Tyros 5 and Genos.... they are truly incredible in many aspects... BUT Yamaha sounds is something else....and the most important thing in a keyboard whether it's Synth or Workstation or Arranger... is quality and versatility of the sounds and sound making features such as layering, effects, ( digital or analog or analog emulator) DSP and etc. In case of user interface and the "Flow"... Korg, Roland in some cases do much better.... (not always of course ) But at the end.... Sound quality and the Articulations of Yamaha is incomparable .Period By the way sequencer in Yamaha montage M series is incredible in every aspect... if you don't believe me please try it yourself dears.... I love all the major brands and their innovations but when a product is indeed near perfect, we have to respect it and accepted until the next major product In terms of price, not so much satisfaction 😕😕
Lmao, actually quite the reverse for me. I’ve had my M8X for 3 weeks, love it, especially the pianos. I also own the Kronos and NordS3, for sound quality, Kronos is still king for me, with the exception of some pianos and organ sounds. M8X has awesome acoustic guitar, and pianos, but Kronos still has the edge in synth, it’s still way deeper, richer sounding, and of course those 16 audio tracks and top quality effects are still unmatched in my opinion… But to each their own…

Im curious, because I had the Motif XS for 10years before I bought the Nord Stage 3 and I think the Nord killed the Motif when it comes to pianosounds. Then I bought a Roland RD-2000 because I really missed some of the DX sounds in my Motif, but became utterly shocked by how incredibly synthetic and unrealistic the Roland pianos sounded next to the Nord. I’m not saying this to be critical towards the Montage, but as I say; I’m curious. If the Montage pianos sounds anywhere close to as organic as the Nord then to buy a Montage is a nobrainer for me. I don’t care for the stringsounds, guitar sounds or accordion-sounds, I use real musicians for that task….

Absolutely you should get a Fantom. I got mine earlier this year and I love it. I got the Fantom 8 and the keys feel awesome. I played a 7 and even though I also have a Roland XP80 76 key, semi weighted, I found that I prefer the fully weighted keys on the 8 rather than the synth feel on the 7.

And they still can't get a good piano sound? Instead they go for these plastic sounding 'perfect' piano sounds, what about felt piano sounds? Yep - their pianos all sound the same.... Still hard and plastic sounding....I'd love an old characterful upright - but not V-Piano - but a new sampled one... I don't think they've sampled a piano since the 90s. 😂

I don’t think so. First I want to say that it is not about killing other instruments, all of them could be good tools. On the other hand, in my humble opinion, I like Roland synth, specially the filter (analog filter in a workstation should be the standard), although regarding acoustic instruments Yamaha is excellent, specially pianos and orchestral sounds now. I don’t own a Yamaha but their last board called my attention, not only because of the acoustic sounds, but also because the synth engine is better sounding than before.
I have the fantom and also a montage plan to get an M. and yes they are great tools .But if was to pick one over the other I would go Roland for a number of reasons.Yamaha is getting there and maybe by the time they reach M XS according to their business module they will be just as good or even better but for now Roland is king@@Donetur
Your definition of far superior is? Nord has very low dynamic range, maybe 4 sampled layers. Roland has 16 thousand per key stroke. I've played both and Roland's new German modeled piano is phenomenal. Nord piano sounds natural and very nice. Beautiful to record with, but not for serious playing and controlling dynamics of nuances.

You get a workstation for idea flows and sound creation on the Roland phantom synth engines are phenomenal. You choose what works best for ya baby girl

Fantom-0 is much cheaper for a lot of reasons, including less memory and half or less the processing power of the flagship Fantom.

Yeah before I would say the same like one brand kicks the other brand etc but finally it’s all about flavour.
We can’t say from sound engine if one is better than the other because I for example I always preferred Roland and Korg sounds…Yamaha I like the vl and nothing eslse…

I don’t think so. First I want to say that it is not about killing other instruments, all of them could be good tools. On the other hand, in my humble opinion, I like Roland synth, specially the filter (analog filter in a workstation should be the standard), although regarding acoustic instruments Yamaha is excellent, specially pianos and orchestral sounds now. I don’t own a Yamaha but their last board called my attention, not only because of the acoustic sounds, but also because the synth engine is better sounding than before.
I have the fantom and also a montage plan to get an M. and yes they are great tools .But if was to pick one over the other I would go Roland for a number of reasons.Yamaha is getting there and maybe by the time they reach M XS according to their business module they will be just as good or even better but for now Roland is king@@Donetur
Nord piano sounds are FAR superior- come on Roland!!! Create a big 15GB "sampled" piano 'with character' that actually sounds like a piece of wood.
Your definition of far superior is? Nord has very low dynamic range, maybe 4 sampled layers. Roland has 16 thousand per key stroke. I've played both and Roland's new German modeled piano is phenomenal. Nord piano sounds natural and very nice. Beautiful to record with, but not for serious playing and controlling dynamics of nuances.

I also don't know why someone wanting Nord quality (or comparable) doesn't just get a Nord, FP90X, P-515, SV-2, YC88, etc., instead of looking at workstation keyboards. Absurd.
@@Jason75913 Both me and my musicians agree that Nord stage 4 key action is not great for Dynamics. I don't have any experience with the Nord Grand.
You get a workstation for idea flows and sound creation on the Roland phantom synth engines are phenomenal.
