  • Bob McKillop’s offense at Davidson has been one of the best offensive teams to watch over the course of the last 10 years when I began diving deep into learning more about the game. Not only his motion offense but the early offense and the constant pressure it puts on the defense from the time they get the ball.

    Great vid, I wanna predict this offense becomes more common as teams start going small more often in the playoffs and more 5s become shooters over the years. It was fun seeing teams like the Warriors and Celtics run it at the end of the video!

      I completely agree, also helps that most NBA teams run a version of it as a set.

    Thanks for this.
    Much appreciation and a ton of respect for the work put in.
    It’s hard enough to do this for your own team and staff, let alone sharing it with everyone.
    Coaches like you make the sport better for everyone. Great work!

    Thanks, Coach. Great breakdown of this offense. I installed this offense last year for high school girls and the girls really loved running this offense. Their Bball IQ was developing darn near every practice and game. They were recognizing certain reads and actions and it was a beautiful sight to see. Their eyes getting big because they knew if a defender did X they saw that they could do Y action. Just a great offense to run and it is positionless!! So I got a chance develop their bball IQ and their skill development!!

      That is awesome to hear! The best part about coaching is watching them figure things out in real time - Love it!

    🤣🤣🤣 this is pure gold fam thanks. Just laughing because Steve Kerr put this in his game plan and he gets looked like a genius. But he really put his pride to the side and studied what worked for his best players. Now that's genius so many coaches are my way or the highway.

    Is it me or i think Davidson 5-out is a different version of the mover-blocker offense ? Excellent stuff as always coach..Looking forward to more college breakdowns as the season progresses!

      I don't have time right now to get that in depth with the current projects I have and massive project I have now with the NBA returning - but his playbook was a part of the 2020 NCAA Tournament I did if that interests you at all - thebasketballplaybook.com/product/2020-ncaa-tournament-playbook/

    Hey coach love the video... does Davidson ever get to the strong action twice in a possession?

    • @HalfCourtHoops
      @HalfCourtHoops  3 роки тому +3

      Yes they often do. They base it all of reads so it is never a guarantee, but if the first options are not there they can flow into the strong action again. Thanks for watching!

    How does 5 judge if he will post up or clear to the corner?
    Is there any sign?

    Hi Coach, I don't watch college basketball but I'm curious about how coaching in the collegiate level vastly differs from the coaching in the NBA in terms of X's and O's.

    • @HalfCourtHoops
      @HalfCourtHoops  3 роки тому +1

      It is not as easy in a UA-cam comment, but the skill level, size of court, shot clock and focus solely on basketball typically means the NBA is more fast paced and quicker actions. College teams can run motion and patient offense with more coach control.

    This should be part of basketball 101 for any fan who never played the game at a high level and has to rely on the NBA for their basketball IQ.
