  • Jaden Marchan Edges Quincy Wilson in Marine Corps Holiday Classic 600m At Armory
Marchan (1:17.66) and Wilson (1:17.81) Move To Nos. 4 and 5 All-Time In Fantastic Race At U.S. Marine Corps Holiday Classic; Macchia Runs Two Mile Races In Same Hour, Second One A US#1
    By Doug Binder, DyeStat Editor
Quincy Wilson of Bullis came to chase history in the invitational boys 600 meters on Friday at The Armory.
But so did Jaden Marchan of Leonia NJ.
The New Jersey Meet of Champions runner-up in the 400 meter last June, Marchan showed a bit more endurance over the final 100 meters and closed a four-meter gap and slipped past on the home straight to win the race in 1:17.66 for a New Jersey all-time best. It's also No. 4 all-time.
Wilson tied up a bit over the final 40 but still broke the sophomore class national record after going through 400 meters in 49.7 seconds. His time of 1:17.81 just missed his 2023 best by .01 seconds.
A pair of new US#1s came out of the 800 meters event.
Allison DeLisi of Penn Charter PA took over the national lead in the girls 800 with 2:10.25.
Colin Abrams of Bullis MD led wire to wire to run 1:53.84 in the boys invitational race.
Elise Cooper of McDonogh MD tied her US-leading time in the 55 meters with 6.95 seconds.
Sydney Sutton from Bullis MDbroke the meet record and ran a US#1 time of 38.19 in the girls invitational 300 meters.
In the boys 300 meters, Maxim Copeland from Windsor CT won it with US#8 34.67.
Micah Hinton from Western Branch VA won a photo finish over Deron Adams of Pennsbury West PA in the boys 55 dash, 6.46 seconds to 6.47.
Athena Stith of Archbishop Spalding MD jumped nine inches beyond her personal best to reach 19-9.50 for a new US#1 in the girls long jump.
Union Catholic NJ's Taylor Cox broke the meet record and achieved a new US#1 in the girls 55-meter hurdles with 7.82 seconds.
New York hurdles champion Jordon Quinn from Freeport High ran US#3 7.36 to win the 55-meter hurdles.
The national leaderboard in the girls mile was in flux at the meet.
First, Ella Cohen of Hunter College HS of NYC ran a national-leading time of 4:51.38. Behind her in second, Zariel Macchia of William Floyd NY ran 4:54.62, good for US#3, but she was just warming up.
Macchia returned to the track 25 minutes later to race in another section of the girls mile, the club category, and ran a new US#1 with 4:50.47.
Trent Daniels, a sophomore from Gainesville VA, dominated the boys mile and won in a US#3 time of 4:18.27.
Sophia Curtis (Ocean City NJ) broke the meet record and jumped a US#3 mark of 39-11 to win the triple jump.
Sydney Jones from Haverford PA jumped 5-6 to win the girls high jump.
It was a sweep for Woonsocket RI in the weight throw competitions. Isabella Piette moved to US#2 with a best mark of 47-8.25. Adam Beaudry won the boys event with a throw of 61-4.75.
Rocco Carpinello of West Islip NY won the boys long jump with US#12 22-5.
Paint Branch MD held on for a victory over charging Windsor CT in the boys 4x200 relay, 1:29.41 to 1:29.57.
South County VA, already the U.S. leader in the girls 4x200, ran slightly faster in the trials (1:40.17) but still took the win in 1:40.44.

Quincy Wilson is the fastest runner I have ever seen with such bad running form. He has serious potential and I am excited to see what his future will be.

Quincy is my boy, but Jaden ran smart. He conserved energy for the end. Quincy is young and with his immense talent and gaining knowledge he's going to be huge! 🙌🏾

Well timed kick by Marchan. You could see it coming by the 400 mark.

It looks like a D1 College athlete, racing against a high school Sophomore. It's clear that Jaden Marchan and Quincy Wilson are not the same age, and this makes a BIG difference, when you are still going through puberty.

Quincy died. Also 600 is more of an 800 runners race. I would put Quincy in a 300m or 500 at most

He does hold the national high school lead 300/500 times (unless someone recently beat them)
