- Join me as I blow out the cobwebs with a great walk up to the summit of Moel Famau. The weather was absolutely fantastic and I was treated to a beautiful sunset at the Jubilee Tower. I had a coffee on top and admired the amazing views.
Looks beautiful thank you for sharing x
Thanks for the kind comments Jan! Thank you for watching 👍
@@jossthomas123456 your welcome, I will look forward to going there to visit soon, thank you for reminding us how lucky we are to have this on our door step, x

Beautiful, lovely video and what cracking views! Very nice indeed 🙌
Tea In Valhalla thank you! Its much appreciated, atb Joss
lovely way to unwind after work mate and certainly makes the most of your time instead of just sitting around vegetating. Beautiful hill too and the skies looked amazing. Thanks for sharing Joss and hope life is treating you well. Steve
Outdoors Lifestyle thanks mate. Was a cracking afternoon. All good thanks mate hope you are too, atb Joss
Awesome video... weather held out great for you... know the area well... as I'm from Chester... not too far away 👍✌️
OUTDOOR ADVENTURE thanks! Small world, I lived in Chester for the last 8 years, until this summer where I have moved back over the border! Atb Joss
What a beautiful country
Snooch tv thanks 👍
Cheers for that Joss, that was the first hill I walked up as a young lad. I lived in Mold for about 18 months as a kid then moved to the other side of Chester about 5 miles out, off the Parkgate road, and from the end of our lane on a clear day, I could see Moel Famau. Little did I realise it was going to be the first of many, happy days. Diolch yn fawr. Cymru am byth.
Joss, loved the film, thanks!
freetrueandjust thanks for the support as always. Hope you are well, atb Joss
Hi Joss
cant think of a better place as Moel Famau for an after work blow out , well maybe Dinas Bran ;)

LLangollen444 thanks matey- I was up the Castle a fortnight ago. Thanks for watching, Joss
I've been going up over the last few Sunday's for a short walk. Great going up at the crack of dawn with few people about. Up the same path and down via the path to the first car park. I live ten to fifteen minutes away, so very lucky. Great videos btw.
Alan Jones thanks for watching Alan, nice part of the world👍
Thanks for doing this video Joss. I used to be able to see Mole Famu from my bedroom window in Buckley. As a youth I would often walk up it with my dog. I am now an old lady living in Alberta, never thought I would see this place again - thanks :-)
Thanks Diane that was a lovely comment to read, Im glad its bought back old memories, its still a great walk! Thanks for watching! All the best, Joss

Another fantastic short break from reality, thanks to you Joss. Do you ever get lonely on your trips out?
mr Strong thank you my friend- glad you enjoyed it.. a longer vid coming soon. No I never get lonely, I like to come into the mountains to get some peace from a busy work and family life- so its my time to enjoy some quiet! Making a film and chatting to camera is almost like having company too👍
Love moel famau, I used to walk up it on Christmas day before Christmas dinner with my grand parents, from age 7 till age 30 when my grandad passed away, so it's a special place for me, cracking video mate, some beautiful footage there, usually very windy up there , you had a great day for it, 👍👍ATB
Gaziano Outdoors thanks buddy, you are right, there is a wind there all the time usually, amazing to find it so quiet. Glad to hear it meant something to you its a nice hill. If you ever find yourself in these parts and fancy some company- give me a shout mate👍
@@jossthomas123456 cheers mate, nice one 👍
Great video Joss. I can see Moel Famau and the Clwydians from my back garden in Bontuchel, about 20 mins away from Moel Famau. You had some nice weather that day. Love your videos as they are of great quality, keep them coming. All the best and hope to bump into you on one of my hikes one day. Take care.
Chris Bedwell thanks Chris much appreciated. Was very lucky with the conditions. Thanks for watching and see you on the hill! Atb Joss
Nice video Joss, I head for the Clwydians when I don't have enough time for a Snowdonia trip and never feel let down, cracking location. Atb Mark.
Mark Murphy nice one- great place for some mountain atmosphere. Its rare for me to make a video outside Snowdonia!
Thanks for watching, atb Joss
Nice one Joss, love it up Moel Famau, it’s the highest hill for me to climb that’s close to home now that I’ve moved to The Wirral from The Porthmadog area. Lots of great walking in the Clwydians that I also want to do.
Keith Edwards thanks mate its all lovely area for walking in. Atb Joss
Stunning video Joss, seems like the trail gods truly blessed ya with the weather
Impala on trail thanks buddy, they certainly did👍 cheers for watching
It looked as if you were entering the Pantheon or something Joss. Perhaps it was a temple of sorts to celebrate them views. Nice. All the best. Mark
Wye Explorer thank you Mark, its definitely enlightening and the path at 0:55 does feel like you are going to head off into the heavens! The building certainly does have that feel about it, thanks for watching, atb Joss
@@jossthomas123456 A pleasure Joss. Yeah it was certainly a heavenly view up there. As for the building - it's got that sense of occasion. A good share after work.
Nice little video there joss. Beautiful view.
Sam Outdoors thanks matey much appreciated
Joss, love the videos but Moel Famou isn't quiet the highest hill in north east clwyd. the radio mast sited above the ponderosa cafe is higher., not by much but it is higher
Hi John, I realised my mistake after publishing my video! Moel Gamelin is also higher. Youre right. With a wider scope across North East Wales, the Berwyns would class as the highest really. Thanks for watching and commenting. All the best, Joss
I live in Ruthin mate, near bottom of moel famau, you look like you had a great time mate
Thanks Jack. Yeah its a great little hike!
@@jossthomas123456 I won’t lie I’ve only lived here for a year and haven’t been up there yet but looks good

Great views Joss and a beautiful walk after a day's work, well done! Must have been some storm to damage that tower. Regards Keith
Welsh Rambler thanks Keith, a cracking walk. As you say, must have been a hell of a storm, cheers Joss
Great little after work walk that, not so many hills near here although you can do nice walks by the rivers.
ttxela I do like a river walk, thanks for watching buddy. Atb Joss
Stunning sunset there Joss. Loved the tower overlay, and history mate. Fingers crossed for some nice weather next weekend 😊

Beautiful sunset mate - thanks for sharing.
I had my first hiking outing on Pen y fan in Brecon the week just gone - - weather wasn't quite as pleasant but had a lot of fun all the same.
Can't wait to get out there again - thanks so much for the inspiration
craggle many thanks, glad it has inspired you and good to hear that you had fun on Pen y Fan! Atb Joss
Nice when you can get an early finish and head out on a hike, especially on a day like that. Even better when it is just over 30 minutes away from home, real lucky! That must have been some storm that knocked some of the tower down, as it looked a real strong structure when built in 1810. Nice place to have a brew and with a view like that, I would find it difficult to drag myself away, cheers Alan
Alan METALMAN - Outdoors thanks matey it was a gteat short hike. Stunning place- atb Joss
Quality hike and film Joss, views truly were amazing up there! Great place to chill with a coffee and watch the sunset. Shame about the tower though. ATB Anthony 👍👍👍
Anthony Payne thanks for the watch Anthony- just a quick one to blow out the cobwebs. Atb Joss

Not a tad bit jealous that you’re basically just a cartwheel away from paradise!
Funsized Earthling thanks Mari, its a great spot when the conditions are right👍
Would you say Moel Fammau is the highest point in NE Wales then? What about the Berwyns which I've always classed as NE Wales. Moel Ferna for example at over 2000' is only 2 or 3 miles from Corwen as the crow flies. As for the tower. I've heard the storm damage thing before and I don't buy it. How can a storm damage a bloody big solid stone tower? If lighthouses can survive vicious sea storms I'm sure a solid stone tower can. I wonder what the real reason is?
Black Dog Vantrails actually after I said it I realised it wasn’t quite right although I would class the others hills as in a slightly different region (Flintshire and Wrexham being the border North Eastern counties and the more English speaking/least Welsh) Having said that, Cadair Bronwen and Cadair Berwyn both have a part of their summit in the outlying edge of Wrexham County (just about) and its always surprised me that the Tourism and Development part of the Council have never cottoned on to this and promoted the county as having access to them, for walks and activities etc. Regards the Tower- I think the story goes that it was never totally completed.. and that the storm damaged parts of it which made it unsafe and therefore what was left standing was dismantled. Would be interested if you find evidence that something else happened..
Did this yesterday with the 5 kids done the path from the car park straight up took us an hour me in my infinite wisdom said this is the shortest path let’s do this didn’t realise how steep it gets 🤣 I’m sore today kids are buzzing 🤷🏼♂️ do you recommend any others for me and the kids I’m in Liverpool so not my first time doing it might try llanberris path on snowdon soon as the weather got too bad last time so for safety had to turn bk with the kids
Thanks Alan, its a great walk but definitely some bits will get the heart pumping! Well done! Joss
Lovely scenery👍 If you dont mind me asking, are you a friend of Dorothy? Atb Dave

Could you camp up there?
Not on the peak no, its way too busy. But on the flanks on the Ruthin side, maybe if you arrived late and left early.
