    I could do with something like that on our Citroen C3 which is a car which only has an interior light when you open a door and even then is beaten by a glow worm! We have the giant windscreen which is good but a flawed design..the sun visors vanish when you push the roof lining back a d that lining also means, no interior lights! Good work on recommending a friends website and design...very fair as always Simon! Stay safe😃😃😃😃😃

    Simon, great product and great video to help with the install. I just installed this in my Defender in under 10 minutes. How would you add a switch. I love it when I'm camping and similar situations, but have quickly realized - since is so incredibly bright, there are times when I'd like to switch it off. Any advice?

    • @L663
      @L663  2 роки тому

      Ah so you need a "stealth mode" for those more discrete journeys ! Its a good question - maybe you could add a switch next to the light where it takes its power from - I will ask Tim to look at options. You can disable the interior lights by pressing and holding the contact point on the overhead console for total stealth mode.

    • @Defender3d
      @Defender3d 2 роки тому

      Pleased you like the light Jason. I have released a few switched units as a sample, but the general consensus, after selling around 800 of these has been tokeep the price down and remain un-switched. However, that may change. For a retro workaround though, you could interrupt the LED cable and add your own switch to the Red positive line. You may have to fit the switch into the trim though, so this may be a problem if you don't want to damage anything. Cheers

    Simon. Silly question. Have ever removed the offside upper rear quarter panel the tinted bit above the rear lights. Reason for the question is, there is a slight bit of stress in the plastic on my new one and the local dealer is going to replace it but will not say its an easy clip on and off. I got we have never done it before it could be connected to other panels blah blah. Their own repair info says 6 min fitting time. So I guess it clips on/off but I'm not going to try as they will say I have done it. Lots have installed on the 90 with rear seats. Some remove the corner trim at the Right side nearest the rear door, some use a rigid wire pushed up through the stock light point where you will connect, and then use the wire to pull the new cable back down. Nice work to all involved and another top vid Simon, a few things, the wiring could be protected against rubbing or at least secured similar to how all oem new defender wiring is. We have a saying, loose wires cause fires 😉 Also the fluff behind oem light, could that be a fire hazard when light heats up? Having said that, we will get one from you guys and install with these issues addressed, certainly much needed when we have the back full and fridge in etc on trips/camping.

    • @Defender3d
      @Defender3d 3 роки тому +4

      No risks if installed carefully. The intumescent fire and sound barrier helps stop rattles, and the rubber double insulated main cable to the light avoids the need for chafe tape. We looked at putting chafe tape on the connection end, but this then hampers the click mechanism, and is no less that what JLR have done. I started testing this back in January, and have inspected thoroughly as it's been in and out of my vehicle 30+ times fine tuning the mounting clips. No chafing or rattles were evident, and the stock and mod lights do not run hot, especially as they are time limited to conserve battery.
      As an electrical and robotics engineer with over 28yrs experience, electrical fires are something I take very seriously, and great care around. Thanks for your comments though, always looking to improve.
