The problem is that the 5080 pricing isn't much of the problem. Availability and scalpers are. In an ideal world the 5060 is $200, 5060 Ti is $280, 5070 is $400, in the end we should be able to find $800 5080s that are actually sold for MSRP. Realistically the 5090 in all its might is worth $1600 max.

@@BrokeBlackGamer Glad I brought some hope to you for a bit away from the desperation we're in lol. I hope one day AMD or Intel can give Nvidia a run for its money. Though I'm never buying Intel after my 13700k gasping for air and dying because of Intel wiring the 13th gen CPUs to die so they can offer relative performance to AMD.

Also you should purchase Marvel's Spider-Man 2, it's a great game and you can test all of Nvidia's new goodies too while you're at it
It's really interesting looking back at the launch of the 30-series. In the promo video, Jensen was like: "This is the time to upgrade. It doesn't matter what you have. We've made so much progress since the last time, you should buy this." And he was right. The 30-series, if you could get one, was an amazing value. The performance jump was great, the price was just right. Most of the cards were simply great products. Good ol' times.
Yes very true! The BS started with the 40 series for sure. Now it’s just the standard. If you don’t care about Native settings the 40 series is great! The value just isn’t there on the 80-Class cards anymore. The 30 series was the only generation I skipped, mainly because my 2080Ti was good, and I couldn’t afford the 3080Ti at the time. 🙃
Here’s my opinion on the latest 4080. Only get it if you’re on a 20 series card or below. lol 😂 Let’s hope the 5070 Ti is a budget king. I’ll be getting a 70 - Class to review. :)
Beegee Farmmon here! Looks like all the new cards are junkomatic tbh. I'm happy with it personally since I feel less obligated to upgrade. On the plus side I've seen information about a lot of the new 50 series features being overridable and working on 40 series cards/a lot older cards :D

this is my first GPU launch since I built my first PC in July 2024, but some reviews are predicting 5070=4070S which i have already. Hope and see on the 5070S
The 4070 S was a good value card, and congrats on your first build last year!!! I definitely thinks that’s accurate based on the specs at least!
I like Nvidia but they should truly be ashamed of themselves with the low amount of VRAM they put in these new GPU’s.

These are like 1200 street for basically what should have been a 70 class card, plus the USD is through the roof so if you aren't in America then expect a big increase maybe 30% or so from the high USD, add on the fact that Nvidia skimped by staying on the same node and everyone is incredibly poor now due to the economy... People have had enough..

This is a chance for AMD, and dare I say Intel with their next gen to shine.. Nvidia overplayed there hand with this generation I think, they exposed the greed and lost a lot of mind-share..

I hate corporatism. It ruins every industry for the consumer. NVIDIA know what they're doing. They could have given us the same generational leap but they chose not to. Why? Because they are an AI company now. Everything is about AI. So it's very easy for them to save on hardware costs (like going to a smaller node or changing the architecture radically) and instead plush the cards up with AI magic. Don't get me wrong, AI is amazing. It does its job. But we need raster performance. A lot of people, including myself, who didn't get a 5090 are thinking that we should sit this generation out because DLSS4 made every game even more awesome. You can now choose DLSS performance mode and have better visuals than DLSS 3 quality mode had. So that's like easy 20-30fps more.
Exactly I was just telling my bro he won big time with his 3090TI. I was actually going for that card over the 4080 Super, but the 4080 Super was cheaper, even in the used market at the time haha.
Oh and yes, I wouldn’t be surprised if they did a yearly release at this point 😆
What a great choice you made going with the 4080 super, I was banking on the 50 series being somewhat worth it but alas Ngreedia let us down again. Instead I'm selling my 3060 laptop and buying a used 3080 to put in my brothers old pc with an i7-11700 until the 6000 series releases or amd step their game up.
That’s not a bad idea on FB market place I saw a handful of 3080Tis going for $500-600 and that GPU is still a beast, but at that price might as well go for a 5070 I guess. I’ve seen 3080s as low as $350. I sold my 2080Ti for $200 because of that haha.

I know it isn’t the same, but for how much we pay it shouldn’t even be comparable 🙃 Then again consoles are overpriced now too with no price cuts. :) And obviously we do more than just game with them.
What has happened is Ai. All the real top GPU's like a titan or 90ti are reserved for there Ai cards and we get the leftovers. That is why they pushed down the stack and the 4090/5090 is really the 4080/5080 cards and the true titan/90 cards are sold for 10k to Ai companies. The full blackwell die has another 20% over the 5090 and some think that means a 90 ti or titan, I don't see them doing that unless they have there next gen die for Ai already to sell for massive amounts. They won't sell us the full die for 2-3k when they get 10k. People think it is a problem with progress and moores law, I just think it is greed from Ai profits and they do not want to give us those gains for any kinda value. But I could be wrong.
Ohhh that makes a lot of sense. I was wondering why they were advertising AI Tops on the GPUs, that just confirms more of what you’re saying.
People always complain there is no raster performance, how can you not have raster performance with 21700 cuda cores is beyond my comprehension, or even with 10000 cores.
Ray/Path tracing is not rasterization, so turn it off if you are only in for raster perf.
I also agree that 5080 should feature 20GB by default, but I guess there is a 5080 Super for that and maybe a 5080 Ti Super variant with 24 GB.
IMO most of the people cannot make a clear distinction between raster operation and ray tracing operation, and this is in the vicinity of tech illiteracy for a person who pretends to be a gamer.
I agree with all that! I think that most people are stuck in the past when it comes to this subject. I personally have always played with DLSS on my 4080 Super because it looks amazing. People who think these cards do not have good raster performance probably have just never played one. The 4080 Super is a god-tier card, and I can accept the 16GB of VRAM. I would have been happy with 18GB; that’s all I need for my RT mods! I was just disappointed that the 5080 only has 16GB of VRAM because I eventually wanted to trade my 4080 Super in for that. But yeah, there might be an 80 mid-gen refresh. The fact that DLSS4 is available on the 40 series and older is a big pro-consumer move. I mainly just mean it’s dead on arrival because we deserve more VRAM, and it will be marked up past its value due to scalpers. There’s no way someone would not be happy gaming on a 5080.
My 4080 Super can literally play anything; it’s just that these new titles need more VRAM for PT. I’m just upset that I can’t use PT @4K, but honestly, at 1440p, there is nothing the 4080 Super cannot do. I am also okay with 30 FPS as long as it feels smooth. I'm a single-player gamer who literally mods everything, so for me, DLSS4 has been a dream come true. There will definitely be mods that take advantage of this too, and I’m excited! And I should be more specific because with 1440P the 4080 Super is a good PT card. Also I think I prefer RT over having better raster performance. RT just makes it not matter. RT is beautiful. I just modded FC6 and it is beautiful! Looks damn near real!!! I want to show people once I get my capture card. :)
Might be hope with mega geometry! Check the Alan Wake 2 update seems like it lowers the vram usage with pathtracing. But yeah 5080 is pretty sad overall, not worth the upgrade over the 4080.

As someone who has no GPU at all right now and needs one. Should I wait for the 5070ti or try to get a 5080 when actually in stock? I would wait to see what the AMD 9070xt has to offer but no telling when that will release and I like DLSS over FSR.

Also I think Nvidia purposefully held back the clock speeds on the reference and lower end 5080s that way the top end AIB models would match a 4090 and make people want to spend the extra cash on those.
