Thanks Ryan! Out of curiosity how is it different from other presentations that makes it easier for you to follow? I'm curious because it will help me when creating videos in the future.
Yep, after nearly 2 decades working for the web, I feel like it's an experienced engineer's secret. Many of the old tools "just work" and are mature. Also more important than tooling is delivering features and business value. It's a trade-off to invest time in learning new, which is why I personally wait until something is no longer "the new hotness" before I look at it. I just don't have the time.
Great videos Julie! I really love the informal and casual approach you take when recording. It's also cool that because of your vast knowledge, you don't have to spend time to prepare the text and voice parts which is better for us since you can create content quicker. Keep up the great work!
Thanks for the feedback - interesting perspective. I have mixed feelings about just talking because I feel I can ramble and lose beginners that way 😬 But good to know that some people appreciate it, which, yes, allows me to make videos faster.
Thanks for sharing! I'll defo try this out. I've used a similar approach with running terraform using the 3musketeers design pattern. Your Makefile is the primary interface and Terraform runs on docker. It allows your IAC to be more portable across teams.
I also prefer the Makefile because it's like indirect documentation, in addition to making my life easier. I started working with this repo again this week and was so thankful I did that. Got things up running again much more quickly :)
Another fantastic video. I'd love to see you do some CICD including IAC for dotnet based projects such as an Azure App Service and/or Azure Function (that uses C#)
Hi Brett, thanks for the feedback. Coming from the Linux, Mac and OSS world, I actually don't know dotnet or C# 🙃 but App Service should be doable since I already have demos (albeit with containers).
Hi Julie, I just discover your channel and your amazing last videos on infra as code I would like to have you advise on azure resources naming convention : Is the ressource type abbreviation a suffix or a prefix ? For azure naming convention doc it's a prefix. But I see a lot of example, like yours, where the ressource type abbreviation is a suffix. What to prefer ? and why ? Thanks I will follows you next videos with a great interest
Hi Frank, honestly I think both prefix and suffix are good options and as long as you're consistent, it comes down to personal preference. I prefer suffixes because when I am looking for resources, I prefer to have them sorted alphabetically. And if I name the apples project with `apple-*` and oranges resources with `orange-*`, it's easier for me to see what I have. But that's me. What's your preference?
Thanks for the good feedback. Re: basics, we have dedicated Microsoft colleagues who work on that. Have you checked if the official Microsoft channels have videos on the topic? Let me know what may be missing or you think I do better. I will pass that feedback to help them meet your needs. Thanks!
Thanks Juan, will do! There's a gap right now since I've been on holiday. But I will hopefully release a short video this week. Thanks for the lovely feedback.
The slides were done in PowerPoint because they were for a conference. But diagrams that I include in documentation, I use draw.io - which is free and awesome.
I'm currently not planning a full course because it takes a great deal more time planning, recording and editing. But subscribe and you'll get a regular dose of videos on various DevOps topics :)
I love the way you present, I can follow

Thanks for sharing! I have a much better understanding now. Its crazy how something so old can still be used today to solve complex problems.

I love make files! ❤
Best thing ever since sliced cheese!
Amazing Infra Julie👌👌👍
Looking forward for more videos 😍
Thanks Vijay for the lovely feedback! I've been on holiday in the past few weeks. But now I'm back and there's more videos coming soon :)
@@JulieNgTech Most welcome ☺️ I am trying to replicate the same infra ... But getting few permission errors
You are Amazing!!
Thank you Vaishnavi 🤗

Could you go through the basics of AKS. CNI network, RBAC, identity, etc. Would be nice. Good video!

Cool tee … Will fork and try to create this one 👍
It probably won't work out of the box because this repo is part of a larger system. But there's definitely lots to play with and learn - have fun!
Thanks for the great content. Really appreciate it and helps me a lot. Keep up the good work.
Thanks Juan, will do! There's a gap right now since I've been on holiday. But I will hopefully release a short video this week. Thanks for the lovely feedback.
@@JulieNgTech Happy Holidays. We will be waiting here for new content. =)

Great content as always 👍
Merci 🥰
Recently discovered your content! Loving it! What tools do you use to create Azure diagrams?

@@JulieNgTech Thanks 😊
Can we have a full Devops course from you.
