- Karen Charles of Husqvarna Viking demonstrates how simple it is to make crazy quilts using a sewing machine. Karen uses metallic threads with heavier cords in the bobbin and two threads at once in the needle to make decorative stitches. She also uses a tear-away foundation to keep fabric flat. Also see what Karen does using a three-hole yarn foot.

luv it
Another Quilters Newsletter video ruined by plastering the huge QN banner across the screen during the tutorial multiple times. Why do people do this? Do they think we're stupid and don't know what video we're watching? Don't they realize that this is so annoying that people don't subscribe because of all of the visual distractions people add during the tutorial?
Excellent video! I had no idea crazy quilts could be so beautiful!
PRETTY N WHAT VIKING MODEL???????????
Any computerized Viking will work, the Sapphires have gorgeous decorative stitches, the Topaz's, Designer SE and most computerized machines are very easy to use and the feet work on all of them. Do you have a Viking? I can tell you more if I know what machine you have.
Well done Karen!! I'm so fortunate to have a Diamond Royale and absolutely LOVE it and all it's amazing capabilities. I do many custom landscape pieces and always use these beautiful decorative stitches to add dimension. It makes such a difference!
I have a viking Sapphire 835, Can I use a 3 whole yarn foot?/
Yes, the three-hole yarn foot will work with your machine. Your local Husqvarna Viking dealer should be able to get one for you if they don't already have it in stock.
What brand of metallics did you use?
Hi Paula, if our recollection is correct (and the spools do appear to be the right shape), we were using Robinson-Anton metallic threads. There are many good brands of metallic threads available, however, and we would encourage you to find what works with your machine. Sometimes putting the spool of metallic thread in the freezer overnight prior to use makes even a so-so metallic work very well. Hope this helps!
Thanks. I just purchased the 960Q and wanted to try this.
