Man, I've driven by this place a hundred times and always wondered what was inside. Thanks loads for the tour. Just today I walked over the remaining rubble of the dam a kilometer or two north of this power station and filtered some water from San Francisquito creek that was one of the sources for the reservoir behind the doomed St. Francis Dam.
Awesome video for those of us who love mechanical history , old machines and the folks that keep 'em running. And I think the operator is great. (pgnedved, get a life. or a job. or SOMETHING.) Thanks for the tour!!!!
WOOOOOWWW!!.I can't BELIEVE that that guy brought those people that close to the hi-voltage! I could hear the static through the camera! Bet he'd be fired instantly for that! YIKES! They're lucky they didn't get killed!!!
@2:08....that hiss & buzz as they walk past (looks like within mere INCHES!) those giant insulators is 115KV getting ready to arc out the minute someone reaches up above thier head! This is the equivalent of someone walking around inside a live substation casually strolling up to anything they want! This guy should be reported!!! Osha would have a hayday!
You folks are funny. Walking by those transformers isn't THAT dangerous because of the voltage. If OSHA was concerned, there would be precautions such as fencing. Granted, would strongly recommend not walking around the area with an aluminum ladder. The most dangerous part is a unit taken off or brought online and something happening with the OCB while someone was within the "gallery". That would be a bad day.

These old hydro stations are the best!
KEEP GOING STRONG!
