    A few things...
    1. It appears the noise/vibrations he's complaining about are CONSTRUCTION related that would be occurring with any improvement to the land; if he didn't want to endure construction adjacent to him, he should have purchased that land so as to control it.
    2. On the other hand, it appears there is very little regulation on these battery farms in TX and it seems maybe there should be some(?)
    3. This is pretty shoddy reporting; specifically around the concern about fire risk of Li-ion batteries. Is it certain they are using Li-ion packs or is that just an unverified assumption? Most stationary energy storage has moved on to LFP chemistries as they are cheaper, have a higher cycle life, can utilize the full charge range without negative long-term consequences, AND (wait for it) does not have the thermal runaway issues of Li-ion chemistries. I'm not saying they are using LFP and that this isn't an issue, but it would be nice if the coverage actually stated they were using Li-ion instead of just stating the homeowners concern about Li-ion batteries.

      @Nrustica 2 місяці тому

      Li-on is obsolete, i agree that LFP is probably what they are using in stationary plants.

    should have bought the land when it was for sale if you wanted to control it.

    The NOISE isn’t because it is a BESS, the NOISE he is complaining about is that it is a CONSTRUCTION SITE!

    Construction noise is only there during construction. Can't own a view, unless you own the property. Plant a tree line right on your property edge. We need the batteries now.

    It's a couple of boxes you'll forget all about it once it's fully built. Other than that, buy forty acres, put your house in the center, and have no neighbors.😅 Oh, and be glad it's not a refinery.😂

    Those drywall cracks happen even without construction near by. Could just be expansive soil like high clay content in the soil. Texas house foundations are not very deep. I get cracks like that all the time because of the changing moisture content in the clay soil. Also, buying a house with empty land isn't great since you don't know what will pop up there unless you end up buying that land.

    I’m not sure about this location, Most battery storage locations are made up of LFP batteries, which are very safe compared to lithium ion batteries and nowadays lithium ion has became a lot safer than they were in the past. As far as the battery storage facility, they are being used to replace peaker plants, which are very expensive to build an operate and would be a lot more destructive to the environment

    Battery backup systems are not new. AT&T's and others landline providers have used battery backup for over a century to ensure continued service during power outages. Of course there aren't as many as there once was. Railroads also used large battery backup systems for the same reason to maintain signal controls.
    Currently, cell towers and radio/TV/cable/satillite repeater stations all use battery backup. Most of the older systems used lead-acid batteries, but more modern battery tech is now replacing those. Battery backup systems are becoming more public with more renewable energy coming online.
