  • This video features every Amtrak and NJ Transit train and rail vehicle operating on the Northeast Corridor passing through or stopping at Edison station during the evening rush between 5:30pm and 8:00pm.
Circa July 2021. This video was shot in full HD at 60FPS.
Please excuse the fact that my microphone did pick up noise coming from the 12kV 25Hz overhead catenary. Also please excuse occasional shaky camera work on my part.

That's technically one of these: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Budd_Metroliner#Conversion_to_cab_cars They're pretty similar to the amfleet coaches though.

    12 car set on NJT?!😳

The train consists made of Arrow III cars seem to usually come in sets of 12 on the Northeast Corridor Line. The trains hauled by ALP46 locomotives are usually shorter.

I know! I usually only see 7-8 car trains on my commute to work through Newark

Nice! Would have liked you to switch sides for better lighting?

    • @Shuotography

Good point as the setting sun in the west did end up back lighting the trains from where I was. Originally I chose my spot on the south end of the northbound platform because it offered good views to both the north and the south along the corridor. The southbound platform's curvature kind of obscures the views a bit.
Also I think some bystander must have called the cops on me. So during much of my filming there were 2 police officers watching me film nearby. They never confronted me or asked me questions but simply hanged out. I guess I didn't wanna run off to the other platform and cause a misunderstanding or miss a train while I switched spots.

@@Shuotography Thanks for the reply. I'm sure you didn't need me to tell you the lighting was not the optimum but i didn't consider the view up and down the tracks and that's a good point. As for the police, i still carry around a letter from post-911 days from NJ Transit assuring me we had the right to view and photograph their trains, etc. Good job.

@@nathanirlam3159 I went back to the same station to shoot another video last weekend. Ironically someone called the cops on me again. I had a chat with the local police officer who responded. He told me that whoever called in claimed that " there was a kid running across the train tracks". Obviously I didn't do that and I also didn't see anyone else do that while there. So it sounds like someone in the vicinity of the train station seem to have a habit of making false reports to the authorities whenever someone's railfanning at the station. :(
But anyways, here's the video from last weekend: ua-cam.com/video/ZobZTwVe7yM/v-deo.html

@@user-wd1fc1cs7j 18:48 These have a slide to open window on the doors on the side of the cab. They are the Comet V cab cars (driving trailer) made by Alstom between 2002 to 2004, which are not electric multiple units. They don't have their own traction motors and are not self propelled. They are used on the opposite end to the locomotive on locomotive hauled push/pull trains. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comet_(railcar)#Comet_V

@@user-wd1fc1cs7j Looks like those doors you pointed out do have sliding windows that can be manually opened, presumably when the train is moving. They kind of look like some of the windows found on the side doors of conductor's or engineer's cab. I assume those windows can be helpful when a crew member wanna take a peek off the side of the train.
