This brought back memories of fifty years ago. I had forgotten this film existed. Here in the UK, Sunday's used to deathly dull, nothing was open and cinemas only had evening performances. I went to see this film at our rather decrepit local cinema with my brother. I remember that there was a great deal of audience participation during the showing.

    • @AtomicSnackBar

That's great to hear. I do so enjoy not only re-discovering a film I had forgotten, but helping others to do the same.
I had a similar experience with the Van Damme movie Lion Heart back in the 90s. Went to the cheap theater on a Saturday night. The audience was really into it. Lots of fun.

Ohhh man, that looks so COOL, I love that westerns out of the later-era stuff could not only be stranger, but also funnier and wilder, it's probably what initially drew me to Trigun in my early education of anime in my life. The whole wild west thing with a cosmic aesthetic, plus an actually samurai that could get into gunfights, very weird west. 'Ol Angel Eyes kinda had fun with his career too, and I love that for him, but that whole 'Master Ninja' thing took some time to wear off, eeugh. Paired up for a treasure map scenario with the mighty Lo Lieh as well, and all of it with this big payday coming, and plenty of stakes, adventures, and danger along the way, plus a Gatling run? you couldn't ask for a more tightly composed awesome thing to watch~ Excellent pick as always, Sterling~

@@AtomicSnackBar The Big O is a real question-mark of a narrative at times, almost like there's missing episodes or something, but the giant robots in it are sick, like if Cadillac made such things. There's a lot of good anime dark sci-fi out there, Trigun is more of a late 90s anime experience, kind of like how Outlaw Star is technically a fantasy series.
If you want for newer weird west experiences, I can suggest Samurai Champloo, it has a historical fiction angle, episodic progression, offbeat characters, and a lot of contemporary hip hop for a story set in the Tokugawa shogunate~

There's a monochromatic version of "the old west" that is full of dusty streets and bare buildings and gunfighters, cowboys and crooks. There is also the "Little House on the Prairie" version from the homesteader and farmer point of view; and the "Bonanza" version with the big business point of view, timber and mining and prospecting and all that. The bleak stuff of Bret Harte and Cormac McCarthy and Clint's; the civilized stuff of Willa Cather and Laura I. Wilder; the amusing stuff of Mark Twain; and all that pulp stuff from Louis Lamour and Zane Grey and even Robert E. Howard.
Is there a version of the American West with all of it put together? "How the West was Won" is a big sprawling film but too sprawling.
I like the Disneyfied version of the old West with Davey Crocket and Daniel Boone and series like "The Swamp Fox" with Leslie Nielsen. Including the "Mark of Zorro". It gives the impression that those British historical dramas give without the stiff upper lip.
I imagine there are "legends" about the old American West yet to be told. Though many would say its been done you just haven't seen it. I'd like to think this "weird west" submission you've delved into isn't so much an outlier as it seems. The pioneering American West probably had weirder relationships and plots that haven't ever been depicted before. Just got to get out of those dusty old saloon stop towns.

@@AtomicSnackBar aw cool I guess that explains why I always preferred midnight martinis (I love collecting old toys even if my collection is small)

@@rexevans5477 Toys are probably a bigger passion for me than movies, believe it or not. I've just never had much luck in the toy world on UA-cam. My first channel on here was primarily about 80s toys. It just never went anywhere.
What kind of stuff do you collect?

I'm pretty sure that your existence makes my own existence less horrible therefore I should think that you are a good for the world LOL

I like to think so as well. Other than, of course, my evil robot and donut related schemes.

Hey, guys! As usual, I received no notification... the 'mirror universe' me must have dialed the wrong gate address on the DHD.. anyways, I'm going to randomly check from now on.
That being said... GREAT CHOICE. I will check this movie out. I've recently seen two films that put me in the mood:
Steven Chow and Derek Kwak's first (2013) JOURNEY TO THE WEST and A MAN NAMED NOBODY (1973).
I'm sure you've at least heard of A MAN NAMED NOBODY (Terrence Hill, Henry Fonda) but I thought I'd mention it here; Terrence Hill was a Chaplin/Keaton level physical comic, and I include a link here to one of my favorite scenes in all of film. It's long, but worth it:

From the views on this one, I'm thinking there were quite a few mirrorverse flubs this weekend. But if it helps, new episodes come out every Friday at 7 p.m. est.
I haven't seen A Man Named Nobody, but I really should dig deeper into Terrence Hill's work. I was a big fan when I was a small child due to Super Fuzz. That one played often in my household, and I thought he was the coolest.
I shall check out that clip now. Thanks, David.

I blame Daniel Jackson! His compassion gets the best of him, and we always end up on some alternate Earth!
I'll be on station on Friday... ;)

Alright... while I got you on the phone (so to speak).
I took out my ROBOT CARNIVAL cells/backgrounds the other day, just to make sure that I remembered them correctly and yes, they are both. The real deal. In perfect condition.
One is from PRESENCE, one from WESTERNER'S INVASION, and one from THE END.
      BECAUSE---
They've been sitting in a drawer for over a decade. The only thing worse than destroying art is locking it away in a nitrogen vault for no one to see. Greg Jien, the great god-level model builder, died recently, and when they went through his garage, well.. they found a lot of the most famous 'missing models' including the original RED 5.
Point is that these great works are being wasted as sock stuffers. They should be appreciated. So let me 'buy you a cup of coffee' so to speak, and send them to you. I'll cover the postage, too. Free my people! Is there an address/P.O. BOX I can send them to, without compromising the secret lounge?

They go to a good home; consider it a 'pet rescue'... in good condition; they were only photographed once, and always on a Sunday!
