Nuke always seemed like this gigantically daunting program, but just watching this tutorial helped me a ton on understanding how it works, and maybe it's just the insanely clear way you present it, but I think I want to give Nuke a shot now!
Really appreciate your comment eSushi! Yeah Nuke is great and it's really not that complicated - well it's huge and it can get quite complex but it's also quite logic if you take it step by step! More coming soon! :)
6:49 if you are in proxy mode , you can't do that selection. It's a bug and never been solved. So you have to make sure you're not on proxy mode to be able to window select multiple tracks.
@@balajee210 Ah that's really nice to hear! What other apps do you use? I'm doing my first livestream later tonight - going to be making something in Blender and just see how the whole livestream thing goes hahaha! Hope you check in!
Wow, Really Simple but informative. Thanks. I want to know How to figure out a camera details from a single image of a room? As it consist of straight lines, corners.
+Issac Dhan Hi, thanks for the comment, I think it should be possible in PFTrack, creating geometry and then exporting it to a 3D application like Maya etc. Is that what you mean?
Hey, how do i make the camera tracker only track from frame1-100 not the entire footage? And at 9:45 instead of typing the value manually, is there a slider in which i could adjust like in AE?? thanks
Great tutorial man! Thanks a lot. You said you 'll show how to export the camera from nuke to 3ds Max? Did you make that tutorial I can't find that tutorial man, please help.
+Julien Arnaudet (Zourrou) Thanks for the comment - unfortunately not... Reason is I actually migrated to Modo, which make things a lot easier to go from Nuke to Modo. Might do a tutorial on that if you are interested.
I'm using the non-commercial version of nuke 12.1v2 and it wouldn't let me to save the selected points as a ground plane. Any suggestions on how to do something similar using the non commercial version? thank you.
i have downloaded your nuke camera tracking tutorials for learning. but for practice i don't have the footages. can you please sent me the footages, so i can do the practice.
What a great, clear, concise and short tutorial! Other stupid people's tutorials are broken down into 2 30 min parts when it could be explained in 10 mins wtf lol. 1)Anways, i was wondering, since im coming from AE, does the amount of nodes matter in Nuke? For example, will 1000 nodes crash my computer in contrast to 100 layers in AE? Because from what i've read, nodes are really powerful and that they can handle lots of nodes. And since that simple scene has lots of pipes and nodes, i bet my entire project will have thousands! Correct me if i'm wrong! :) 2)In the timeline, if you scrub too far, you'll end up in the negative part of the timeline. How do i always start from 0 even if i scrub too far? 3) Once i have motion tracked it and added a test object and how come when i play it back it doesn't play in real time? It seems to be laggier than AE. Sorry for so many questions lol. I couldn't find the answers on google :S
VFX Ltd™ Hi there thanks for the cool comment! :) Firstly Nuke can handle many nodes and because it works different than layers your computer should be able to handle many nodes. If you are doing multiple effects within one shot, I would recommend doing one effect at a time, and render that effect - then start a new Nuke project for your second effect - hope that makes sense. I know if some of the shots in Gravity they used over 10 000 nodes in one project - that's insane! :) Obviously you can set the quality down if your computer becomes unresponsive. Nuke has real 3D so whenever you bring 3D objects into Nuke they will be in 3d - hope that helps.
TunnelvizionTV Thanks alot! One more question. How exactly do i edit the duration of each video. In AE, you can just make the timeline shorter by dragging it and cutting it etc. How do i do that in nuke? If you know any tuts could you pls link me them? I couldnt find any tutorials on them.
TunnelvizionTV : It was 2,5D just because it can't import and dealt 3D object. But now it has Cineware - awesome truly 3D. In the next version, AE is improved to be so fast. And I sure that everyone will love it. Back to the tracking, I tried using both AE 3D camtracking and 3D Foudry camtracker to compare accuracy of them, and AE 3D camtraking show the amazing result everytime I make the shots uneasy. ( DOnt forget tick " show detail " mode ). So I can think that Nuke tracking system is more advance but AE tracking system is more accurate. AE 3D camera tracking created for using the awesome 3D plugin like Cineware, Element 3D, Zawerk, Mette,...... . Give a try when it release CC 2015 with new feature "face tracker" :D. Anyway thanks for the tutorial. Still subcribed to see the useful tutorials ^_^
Hello, thanks for the great tutorial, but i need to export all this into maya and i cant figure it out? i cant find a video of it on your page. pls help? :,(
+Saint Sensei Hi - I don't use Maya but see if you can export your camera data using an export node - sorry I am not 100% sure, I might do a tutorial on exporting camera data soon if you want?
It would be a great help to me :) i researched a bit and found ppl use the writeGeo node? but since im using the non-commercial version of Nuke, i cant use it. frustrations flow through me
+Saint Sensei Ah yes that makes sense - I think that is one of the limitations with the non-commercial version unfortunately - I don't think there is another way of exporting your camera from the free version... Will let you know if I do find a way.
TunnelvizionTV there are some scripts but its all way too complicated. i just installed the trial version and it works :) thanks for your help and quick response! keep up the great tutorials
every time I drag my .mov clip in to nuke and click 1 for the viewer, it says: Read1: mov format can not be decoded without mov32 or mov64 enabled. What do I have to do now? Or what do I need to enable?

Cool tutorial. What kind of graphic card do you use and how do you compare Nuke to Autodesk Smoke?
I have confusion on creating and connecting nodes. I hope I have learned that things.
Nice! Can you do object tracking in Nuke?
I think you can but I haven't tried yet :)
Ok :)
a tip: you can watch movies on flixzone. I've been using them for watching a lot of movies recently.

VFX Ltd™ You do all that under the Dope Sheet - You can shift your clips around and trim them etc. :)
Not sure about 3D camera tracker in Nuke, but 3D camera tracker Nuke plugin for After Effects is not good as 3D camera tracking in After Effects :D
Give it a try! I think the reason that the AE plugin is not that great is because AE is not truly 3D it's 2.5D ;)

Ok but did you try the camera tracker inside of Nuke or only the plugin?
Nice tutorial but it's still sliding a bit at the end... Not much... a few centimeters I would guess :P
İt is true. I was gonna install nuke but when I see the end, I am not sure to install..
That just means it needs a bit more refining, same with all tracking software
thanks for the video mate!! ,but when i reach 49% this message apear "mov64Reader Reader failed to read frame: End of file" please help!!.

cool nice

You need to create image sequences of the movie file. You can use After Effects or Photoshop CC to create them.
When I try to solve, the next message appears: "failed to calculate all the frames, go get a reference frame or change keyframe spacing". I tried changing those values but the error persists.
Can somebody help me please? :s
