This video was very informative but quite honestly, the music was such a turn-off. I don't want to listen to loud silly music when I'm concentrating on trying to read your translucent test. I appreciate the work you put into this video so please forgive me, I don't mean to be rude it's just that I find watching videos like this one to be much better off with either quiet background music (no vocals) or no music at all. Thank you for showing us the difference.
Krylon Craft Foam Primer
- Primer matte just abit hint of gloss and shiny
- Dry quickly
Mod Podge
- Glossy and shiny
- Leaves streaks
- Dry less quickly than Krylon Primer
Thank you so much for this!!
Thank you very much for this video. Can we use homemade gesso to prime the foam core board before we use acrylics paint please?
Mod Podge left streaks because you didn’t lightly sand and do another coat. After Mod Podge is applied a couple times, couple coats of spray primer, sand between each coat and then apply base color, then clear coat.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING
I've never liked Mod Podge. I've tried some other decoupage mediums but each time I've been disappointed in the texture when it's covered. I really see a huge difference between these two options. Thank you for showing this to me.
If I already began using the mod podge, could I begin again and go over it with the spray ? It seems to me the primer will work better for my project.
Can i thin Mod Podge with water and spray it with a gun or airbrush for no streaks?
personally I think it all depends on the results you're looking for...if you're looking for a more metallic shiny look then definitely go with mod podgebut if you're looking for a more matte and no shine look then go with the krylon primer
So can paper be glued to the foam with Mod Podge ?
Thank you! This answered some questions I had about what primer to use on my project. Personally I'm going to try the Spray primer because I need it to be matte, but then try using Plati dip as my top coat. And pay my Craft Foam doesn't melt... From reviews I've read the Plasti Dip shouldn't melt it, but fingers crossed it works as I want it to!
How did it worked for you? my gf is working and asked my check if primer was better she's afraid that her craft foam melts
Thanks if you reply, it will be so much help :D
This test doesn't mean anything. You're using the brush on Mod Podge against the Spray on Primer. It's not comparing two similar products. The Mod Podge doesn't leave Streaks.... It leaves brush strokes. Which if you went back with a sponge or microfiber cloth you could have retextured those brush strokes out. (OR you could have used the spray sealer.)
That's true. also the brush used was very thick. the thinner the brush the less likely you'll see brush strokes
Gloss Modge Podge is more glossy... Brilliant..
Have you tried the Mod Podge acrylic sealer?
Do we always have to have music??? yes questionable on every demo clip??
I totally agree with u. It makes me not want to watch the video. It's a pain to have to mute because of annoying music blasting.
I like the shine on mod lodge, but not the steaks, but thank you just what I needed for my project.
But in reality you should use more than one coating. Which means the krylon with turn out smoother finish. While you can't avoid the steaks with modpoge. Don't get me wrong, Modpoge is perfect for what it's created for
I THINK THAT SONG IS PRETTY COOL, YOU GOT MY THUMBS UP!!!
This is a very weird comparison
Why do all the DIY crafts people have to use the loudest tackiest amateur-hour music over there videos there supposed to be informative and somewhat relaxing
For anyone reading this, Mod Podge has several products in a spray format including a sealer. This is a odd comparison to make.
