That is an incorrect way of terminating the BNC connector. The wire "mesh" or shield should cover the whole back end of the connector and the ferrule goes over the lot for crimping.
Hi Mate, do you know to do if im using a weaker (thinner) RG59 cable. All ferrules I've found seem to be for the thicker RG59 cables. I have already cut the BNCs off the runs as I had to fit them through 20mm conduits. Thanks
That is the worse crimp and install job ever. There are so many things wrong with the installation of BNC connector ever. The braiding should not be cut off as it part of the shielding of the cable. Canare has great crimp on connectors that I used in major telecommunications facilities that feed hundreds of thousands of customers.
Hello from the State side.... West coast to be exact. This was a very informational, detailed, wonderful video, as my cameras were about 4 years old and my video side connector ripped off. But i do have other cables that were torn do to screws as well.... i am going to rewire just as soon as our 120* Temperatures drop to 75 degrees... Cheers.
That's about the crappiest BNC crimp job I've ever seen done. 1: The centre pin _MUST_ butt up against the inner insulation. 2: NEVER EVER EVER _EVER_ CRIMP THE FERRULE TWICE!!!!! It seriously weakens the ferrule and reduces the crimp pressure. If done properly the metal interfaces will cold-weld themselves into place This video is a good example of how NOT to crimp BNC cables.
@@tohtorizorro Correct. It's a RG58 (50 ohm) plug, not a RG59 (75 ohm) one It's important to note that putting a 50 ohm BNC plug into a 75 ohm BNC socket will effectively _destroy_ the socket centre pin as the pins are different sizes (75 ohm pins are about 3/4 the diameter of 50 ohm and a 50 ohm pin will catastrophically ruin the brass fingers of a 75 ohm socket by splaying them beyond elastic recovery limits, rendering them permanently intermittent) If this is an example of satsecure's professionalism, people should be avoiding his company like the plague
THIS IS TOTALLY INCORRECT!!! HOW DOES THIS NOT HAVE MORE DOWNVOTES!!! TAKE IT OFF UA-cam! You need to crimp the shielding braid (which also acts as your ground) between the ferrule and bnc connector!!! Otherwise you have no shield and no ground!!!
Hi i'm quite a noob to this and was my first install, firstly thanks for video but... your instructions at 4min cutting the (sorry if my terms are incorrect ) sleeve wire of quite short caused me more issues then i wanted it to be... the connections did not work and was pulling my hair out trying to figure out what did wrong... the wire sleeve needed to touch the ring that gets crimped on and then my connection worked... hope this helps others that might have similar issue.
thanks Matt well explained my friend got conned into a new cctv system but it was second hand i have upgraded the cameras to 5mp but hes left in cat 5 cable is the RG59 a better cctv cable i have used it no bother andrew its a like from me ...
You cut a lot of wire, man, 3:29 which will increase wire impedance, that will invoke overheating in this connection and in the end make a bad signal transmission. This is a Tutorial of how not to do.
Great video. I have the BNC cable like the first one you shown earlier. Some birds chewed the cables lines and is now disconnected and apart. Is there a repair method for rejoining the cables?
You cut all the coax cable copper mash , shouldn't this be connected to the cctv terminal so you would have a ground return and that would reduce any external effects on the quality of the picture?
As long as some of the copper mesh connects to the silver ferrel on the crimp it will provide grounding (i did leave some of it on the coax cable). The more copper mesh connected the better the grounding, and quality of picture. For longer cable runs its advisable to leave more copper mesh to connect to the silver ferrel.
Twisting the mesh into a twine and then crimping can crease the centre stinger by causing uneven pressure around the circumference and affect pic quality, bad technique in my view. Also multiple crimps on the collar is not such a good idea too; get a better pair of crimps that require only one application.
What is the point of this heavy cable when your camera itself has the small cable like you show at the beginning? Wouldn't the camera be crutched from the start?
if you referring the 3 wires coming out of camera itself then it most probably means it has built-in microphone and if you are talking about the wire then it is used to attach ext mic.. *Red is +, Black is -, Blue or Yellow is Audio.
Does anyone know how to go about painting your BNC adaptor (black for example)? Is it safe to just spray it on with a can? I've seen a lot of BNC adaptors black and I want to be able to do this with an adaptor that only comes in chrome.
Mate, can i ask a question if possible please, I have messed up my BNC cable when feeding through a external hole, the bnc connector and the power cable have both snapped off, i have watched your video and want to repair it as i have already laid my cctv cable. the only problem i have is with the power cable, when stripping the power cable, i dont have a red and black wire, the two wires are white and exposed copper wire, can you please advise if this is possible to repair and fix ?
If its a low voltage system you can guess which is which, it only has to contact for a moment, if you get no pic then flip the polarity of the wires and you have the correct pos/neg condition mate.
Neeeeee niet goed waar is de aarde van de kabel. Haal het in godsnaam er van af.(of verander te titel van het filmpje) zo moet het dus niet. Gebruik een goede knip tang. De kabel stripper is ook niks die beschadigd de kabel.
Total wrong, incorrect bnc termination. each rg59 has the correct BNC size..... If you don't have idea how to crimp the connector with right way, please avoid to show how to.... is the best for all !!
This is so bad it was funny the first time I watched. However I watched it a 2nd time and was thinking 🤔 if one is as big a chancer here not knowing how to make off a simple connection what other bs are you throwing out there misleading people that no no better

wow.
@@psychicbreakthrough ua-cam.com/video/NVIIKap9jYs/v-deo.html is an example of how to do it _correctly_
He seems to have the wrong size connector for the cable also which is why he needa to do the crimping multiple times

No, it's not "excellent", it's terrible. This is the correct way: ua-cam.com/video/NVIIKap9jYs/v-deo.html
Didn't know, thank you. Yes, it is informative for me.

I just want to ask one question, why you cut the outer layer which is used for ground?

So easy to understand thank you
No problem :)

that rg59 for cctv, what about the rg58 is use for what ?
I've pulled them apart but they're both just thin copper wire
That's was awesome 👍, thanks a lot for the amazing tutorial
Where is the other end that it plugs into?
Provide link for purchase material sir...😊
Excelente thanks for the video !!!
How do you change the polarte on the cable?
GOOD VIDEO👍

Power drop over distance my mate.
V=IR
SHORT RUN FINE.
LONG run tou get power drop.
Cameras need electricity from flow
very nice and very thorough, thank you!
Thanks nice video
Where is your crimper from? Please can you send me a link?

Just use the shrinkable tube to cover it. Shrinkable tubes are in different colours depending on the colours you want
thank you for the video
Can we put a link to this video on our website ?
Of course :)
Why, it’s a poor crimp, and wrong way to do it
Can you please tell me where I can buy this tools..I am from India..
Amazon
Thank you bro
Too little of the shielding braid crimped by the ferrule, if at all.
hello sir
I'm system integrator in CCTV surveillance
& I want to buy this product will you suggest me the online supplier
Hi, you can buy the crimp tool here: satsecure.uk/rg59-crimping-tool-cctv-bnc-heavy-duty.html
crimp connectors here: satsecure.uk/maxx-digital-crimp-on-cctv-bnc-connector-pack-of-100.html
Is this crimper works also on RCA cables?
There are a couple of sizes of crimps that this tools is compatible with. Depends on cable thickness.
Thanks for response, after googling it seems I need RCA compression tool.
thanks a lot.
You mean SHOTGUN RG59.

Talking with your hands ruins this video. Keep the cable and connectors still. Maybe use a second person to hold and display to pieces.
