    Thanks for uploading. Watching your videos has moved my game forward no end. I've gone from a pretty good pool player who's horrendous at snooker to a very strong pool player who's still pretty crap at snooker but at least I can actually pot more than 2 balls max per break! At least I know what I'm doing wrong now so I can work towards fixing my bad habits!

    I love how these video's have got better over the years, and this is a great video... i love them all to be fair.. i'm never 100% confident that i actually cue straight and delivery straight.. (I always feel i need to pull by back hand a tad, or i'm convinced its not going through straight when in matches - might all by in the head) but consistency isnt always there, any tips to make sure aligning is correct

    Great video as ever Steve. Another variable I’ve been thinking recently from experience and watching plenty of snooker over the years is concentration and rhythm. If we looked at Neil Robertson years ago over analysing and assessing the table in between shots years ago that would badly affect his game in terms of missing pots or affecting his cue ball control, most of all it was getting in the way of his natural tempo. So by taking too long you can cause yourself to lose focus and concentration a lot like taking your eye off a pot when focusing on a simultaneous cannon. I hope one day you can cover this topic in a future video. I hope you’re keeping well 🙂

      @@BartonSnooker I know it’s something that some players wouldn’t necessarily contemplate especially given how complicated the game can appear anyway and I certainly didn’t give it any thought up until recently finding a bit of good form and Nic Barrow reaching out and brought it to my attention about shot tempo and rhythm. I’m doing well, glad you’re good too 🙂
      Looking forward to watching the video when you get round to it, I know you’ll cover the topic well with great detail and insight. Take care 👍

    Anybody else noticed from the Worlds particularly over the last few days how this Subject could be applied to them? I've seen this notably from Ronnie's match versus Ryan Day. Even John Higgins has been missing. Is it really the Pockets to blame? For me, I think it's more to do with potting angle and allignment taken for granted which I believe encapsulates this Video.

    I'd say most of my misses are due to bad aiming, or sometimes just silly things like accidental side, hitting too soft etc

    Plz make a video about secret of elbow for straight cueing. I watched ur video about cue action where U r explaining hit from elbow..but it needs more explanation that how we can feel that we r hitting from elbow. One more thing is it mendotry to hit from elbow or elbow dropping causes unwanted side on cue ball?

    Still not covering the main reason I miss. After years of analyzing my own technique, I know that the #1 reason I miss is not due to cue action OR aiming. It's due to the fact that I struggle to tell exactly where my cue is pointing. The balls will be correctly aligned, and my cue action is straight in the sense that I deliver the cue in the direction my cue is initially pointing in. However, I'm unable to see that my cue is initially pointing a mm or 2 to the left or right of the shot line. I've developed methods for improving this slightly. But I still find it strange that coaching videos still fail to address this. Surely I'm not the only one who struggles with this? I.e. the inability to see accurately where your cue is pointing in your near peripheral vision. Btw my main method of addressing this now is that when I look down at the cue ball to make sure my cue is centered I also look at part of my cue and then as I look back up at the object ball I make sure that I very accurately follow the slope/direction of my cue up with my eyes until my eyes hit the object ball. I often have to repeat this 3-4 times. In that sense, the primary reason I look at the cue ball is not to center my cue, but rather to follow the direction of my cue up to the object ball. However I've also noticed that if my head is rotated even slightly to the right or left, that I will no longer be able to look down my cue properly. E.g. if my head is rotated slightly to the right, but my cue is pointing slightly to the left of the line, then I will judge the cue as being on the line when it isn't. Again though I wouldn't describe this problem as 'cue action' or 'aiming' or even 'head position'. It's a 4th category again, more closely to do with eye pattern and focal points or something.

    • @BartonSnooker
      @BartonSnooker  5 місяців тому +1

      Yeah, it's a pretty common problem. Hard to correct on a video because it's such a tiny small error that can stop the player getting the cue perfectly on line.
      I do it all the time in 1-2-1 sessions of course, but some things are just more complicated and it's hard to cover every aspect on a video.

      Maybe you concentrate to much on vision.Try concentrate more on timing and distance from forehand(when feathering).This makes it easier to hit ecxactly where you aim and cue straightFrom there in time you can adjust little bits if still needed

  • @cranswil
    @cranswil 5 місяців тому +1

    Thanks for that after the last days discussion. Key is to deliver straight consistently and see you are cueing straight in feathers. Then as you say can focus on learning adjustments down on shot.

      I am nice and still. I keep nice and still after the shot, but I am missing the shots anyway. I mean, all my shots hits the cursion. It is almost there, but is not there. I don't know how to improve my aiming. Everybody says that my technic is good, but my aiming isn't.
