I was there that night, Fratton end, and the funniest thing I can remember was when Kaka stood ready to take a corner and the whole of the Fratton end starting singing "Who are ya" "Who are ya" and then the next second all these flashes going off as people took pics of Kaka on their phones. LOL 🤣🤣🤣🤣 so surreal and just about summed up the night. I'm 61 season ticket holder and been to some great matches over the years, Milk cup 81 16k fans at Anfield all the tic a tate, the Stockport game singing all through 2nd half non stop, Both FA cups and semis, Old trafford and Walshy scoring twice, 4-1 twice against them down the road. BUT this night I will take to my grave as my best time ever as a Pompey fan. PUP
I was there at Fratton Park when we played against AC Milan and that was one of our greatest games we played in and I’m a season ticket holder for 26 years and still a season ticket holder. We were very close to beat AC Milan but ended 2-2 and the atmosphere at Fratton Park was incredible and amazing. Play up Pompey 🔵⚪️⚽️👍
Yes but he did get us to Wembley in the FA Cup final 2008 which we won that and I was there when Sol Campbell lifted the FA Cup. Us Pompey fans can create the best support than any other football club in England and we can be louder than other clubs as well. Play up Pompey 🔵⚪️⚽️👍
Was 9 when my dad took me to that AC Milan game. Absolutely surreal watching Ronaldinho come on and score that free kick. My favourite ever Pompey game aside from the 2008 fa cup final
It's still mind-blowing to me that I got to see the likes of Ronaldinho, Inzaghi, Kaka, Christiano Ronaldo, Scholes, Thierry Henry, and Steven Gerrard at Fratton Park. For a long time we felt like the little football team that could. We paid for the squad with our bankruptcy, but our FA Cup winning team was insanely talented too. Johnson, Diarra, Defoe, Campbell, etc. If you put together an all-time Pompey 11, at least 6 of them would be from the 2008 season. It was a hell of a time to be a Pompey fan.

Guimarães away was just nuts. ACM at home was just a lot of rain. But the craziest fact of the lot is that Richard Hughes, I repeat...Richard-bloody-hughes... played against THAT team.
As a biased Pompey fan I'll take it to my grave that it was never a free kick for their first goal. Still, probably the best night in Portsmouth FC history. I was at both the FA Cup Final and the AC Milan game and the atmosphere was probably better at Fratton Park than it was at Wembley!
I was a season ticket holder at the time, fortunate to be at all the home European games, can’t see this returning to Pompey any time soon, we can dream, PUP 💙
Group stage at that time in UEFA cup (Europa league) had 5 teams in each. You get to play each team only once. Either that single game is home or away depends on the draw. Portsmouth finished 4th with 4 points, AC Milan were 2nd, just to be eliminated by Werder Bremen on away goals in Round of 32.
I miss Portsmouth, have not seen them for a long time ever since they got relegated, they had some old school players, i'm not a supporter of the club but never hated them too, always a joy to see them.
Spurs fan from the day I was born, Dad wouldn’t have had it any other way, but Jermain Defoe was my favourite player and when he moved to Pompey, I was watching weekly and if they had continued to improve or even stayed in the prem, I would’ve been questioning myself, the upside is we ended up just robbing their coach and half their squad
As a gooner i remember watching this game cos T.Adams was the manager i think! Just an example of a 'sliding doors' moment in football! Imagine how different T.Adams' managerial career wouldve been if hed managed to hold on to that lead! But no....they couldnt and ultimately T.Adams disappeared into the managerial abyss!

Which is a consequence of the other being a choice is defn up for debate though seeing as its a game of 2 halves and Pompey still had to score at each end too.
