@@bentnickel7487 I bought a 98 as a parts car awhile back. It had a rear exhaust cam sprocket failure at 175k... I used to have a 97 with 216k unwelded, so you never really know. With the fairly low cost of welding, (the only permanent fix if done properly) it's best to get it done as these are getting harder and harder to find.
@@DEvans28 I bought my 98 for $800. I would have too much into it, if I welded it. Florida has 2000 to 2007 Tauruses for under $1000. and 120K miles, so I will drive it till she unravels, then get another for cheap. They scrap out for $300. if you have a clean title.
Check and see if those cam sprockets have been welded...If not, do so!! I don't know anyone with a Gen 3 SHO that hasn't had that done already... Otherwise, if maintained and not beaten down on, it's a fun car to drive, especially on a long freeway run!
Some people wanna feel right doing 2003 or something and like some maybe somebody may want like a brand new 1999 escouade what 6000 miles is from a That's most Dell
@@8corymix8 It sucks too for the original owner. You spend all your life preserving this car and out only 6k miles. You aren’t going to give it up for $7,000 nor are you going to get 30 grand for it as well. Stuck between a rock and a hard place.
2 years later, and yes, they’re going for over $30k now. $40’s for some. Have you ever driven one? One of the best cars I’ve driven in my lifetime. Loved driving that rocket
A car collector may pay around 9500 tops for that car.

😂 sold 2 years ago. I just bought one, they’re in the $30k-$40k now
Make sure the cam sprockets have been welded or that engine will fail at like 50k miles
My 1998 SHO has 150K on it and has never had the sprockets welded. Not all of the motors fail.

This is a SHO Sport, these are very rare and awesome cars
There was no SHO Sport, only a SHO. 20K were made from 1996 to 1999.
I got that same car sitting in the weeds
Im sorry but who is going to spend$30,000 on a 1996 Ford Taurus. Lmao.

Nobody, that's who. Lol. That's the most ridiculous price I've ever seen. You might get $6k. Lol
