“the reason” is literally the reason. this song probably reminds you of mistakes in the past that can never be changed. hence the lyrics “it’s something i must live with everyday, i wish i could take it all away.” everyone’s reasons for emotions are of course different. maybe for you, you lost someone you loved. or your nostalgic about the past. for me, it’s a girl.

storytime abt my life: when my dad and mom were in their 20s my mom asked my dad if she could go out and he said yeah. my mom said she had to go to her friend once it was time to head back but her friend wanted her to stay longer so she asked my dad if she could stay a little longer and he said yeah. but when she was like 10 minutes late he got super mad and well holding his 3 month old baby he walked up to my mom and punched her in her face giving her a black eye. my mom called his sister and told her about it and then his sister called the cops on him and he got arrested. then about 4 months later my mom bailed him out and they got back together. then my dad and mom were listening to music and this song starting playing and my dad held my moms hand and looked into her eyes and she just knew he was sorry.(he's horrible ik)
