Amazing that the Gershwin music and the plot over 50 years ago...finally find their expression in the best ballet and acting ... This brought tears to my eyes ...a beautiful connection .... it's like champagne it takes time to age .... the pairing of the ballet and the music is perfection
I'm so excited to watch the show on 'The Shows Must Go On,' in a few hours. I've never seen the movie or read the book, so reading the plot yesterday gave me quite the laugh (3 friends fall-in love with the same woman). I'm looking forward to seeing how everything plays out, and I am siked for the dances and songs!
@@joanne4758 It really was such a treat! The choreography was stunning, and the songs were lovely as well! After the show, I saw some clips of the movie and I intend to watch it soon (once I finish it, I feel like it would become part of my favorite movies)! Stay safe as well, and happy holidays!🌟 Regards from the PH.
Does anyone know the names of the principals here? (I guess I could be less lazy and look it up myself ; - ) Been so excited about this show since they first started talking about its creation, and have had the chance to fall in love with it for myself, here in Dallas. This tour has a stellar cast! If you get the chance to see it, don't miss it.
Thank you, Yuthika! I did overcome my laziness and look it up. I had thought it looked like them, but was not sure. I so wish I could see them in these roles. But I was thrilled with the performances of Garen Scribner and Sara Esty, in the tour that just left Dallas (also got to see Ryan Steele as Jerry; he was scrappier and more boyish, less suave than Scribner, and also very good. But Scribner has a real matinée-idol aura and charm, that makes me think he should become a great success on a larger scale).
Definitely see the show if you possibly can. The friends that I bugged into going (who said things like "Oh, it costs too much, I don't like musicals that much, it's too much trouble") ended up so glad they'd seen it, after all. Ryan is very good, but Garen S. is, in my opinion, stronger and more effective in the role. They're both excellent dancers, but Garen's singing is stronger, he doesn't get winded when he must sing after long dance sequences, and he's just gorgeous, yet down to earth in his portrayal. I found him kind of a mix of Patrick Wilson, Ray Bolger, Erroll Flynn and Gene Kelly, but with lovelier eyes than any of those. He also threw much higher in the olive toss (cute moment in a party scene; I don't know if they both always perform that old trick successfully, but they did all 4 times I saw it).
They did not give her enough of an up. One of the greatest people to grace the variety stage.
That was very special for Leslie Caron to introduce the performance!
I just can't stop watching everthing about this show!

r.langdon Rowland I’m not usually into ballet but I found the use of it to be quite refreshing. And the music is so whimsical.

I will because I'm seeing the show in Costa Mesa next month. The show does look beautiful
Amy Baker I have to agree with what you said about the show.
Experienced the show in NYC on Broadway "Absolutely Fabulous"
The show looks spectacular. I do hope to see it on tour. Plus I liked the original movie with Gene Kelly and Leslie Caron

That dress is simple genius.
Very excited anticipating Watching" American in Paris" W/ my Criselle, Kimi&Aldri in Vegas next month!
Well good luck with it really because I'm seeing the show next month too in Costa Mesa

Robbie Fairchild and Leanne Cope! They were also the principals in the Broadway production.

I might go see the tour when it comes to Costa Mesa. I hope to see Ryan play Jerry
